For me, I tend to worry about the security angle. The very nature of cracking means you're leaving a backdoor into your system open for whoever to exploit

well for DAWs Reaper is pretty insane its "technically" not free but you can use it as long as you want and there's no limitations kinda like WinRAR back in the day lol

as far as plugins, A***og Obsession plugins will do pretty much everything you want (EQ, Comp, etc) and they're all free. for synths there are soooo many but Surge or Vital I recommend. plus you can always use your DAW stock plugins nothing wrong with those

i think where freeware falls behind is realistic instrument libraries like orchestras or pianos etc, or that used to be the case dunno if the technology has improved

Man fr hip hop itself is more likely to sound particularly soulless if you have "the right resources" Anyway

But it goes for all genres. Jai paul iirc had a barebones set up with reaper and a couple instruments, kurt bought his guitars from pawn shops, elliott smith only had a 4 track recorder for a while, even the beatles started off with barely nothing to record with. They just played live.

With tech today. Literally anyone can make music anywhere.

Ive literally created songs while taking a s***. Songs ppl really like too.

a sad reality is that a lot of people dont really want to be artists, they like the idea of being an artist

This, and if you tell them that they get mad as hell and defensive. Like breh, its okay. Being an artist isnt for everyone.

Takes alot of finesse if you are the average person with a full time job and bills to pay. Gotta make due. and honestly, in my opinion, The magic of music can really shine with limitations and being a bit rough around the edges

Using ai to make music is pretty sad imo

I do use ai for extracting stems tho which is vital

Facts something about corporate studios really dulls the soul of hip hop

Nothing wrong with going that route though. Great way to network. Flesh out the idea at the crib then head to the studio to record and network. Get in touch with the ppl putting s*** together.
