Think I’ve finally gathered my thoughts.

I loved it, it was super refreshing just being thrust into an already established world where things like pocket universes, intergalactic imps& intergalactic zoo’s are a thing no one bats an eye at. This movie captured the essence of Superman better than any other live action depiction and Corenswet is Superman.

The acting on display specifically from him, and Holt was fantastic. I personally never felt the movie was overstuffed with characters or plot, the runtime breezed by.

On some criticism I had though, Superman when being interviewed by Lois initially comes off kinda cocky/ arrogant and like .. there’s not really any pay off, growth of arc from that. No mention of how him losing his first battle made him feel iirc and no growth from him, it was just another day. On a more minor note I hated that screech sound effect that played anytime Hawkgirl did something lmao

Edit: I forgot I also kinda thought the final Superman speech to lex was kinda on the nose

Holt’s performance of lex was great man so many micro expressions, and him posturing himself. You can tell so much about him just from how he’s acting scene after scene before we even get to his actual dialogue

Ngl I thought the international conflict was super generic. If the movie was released a few years ago people would be saying Gunn is DEFINITELY making a statement on Russia/Ukraine. It’s exactly the sort of thing people can just project whatever they want on

Minor thing I just found out.

So the first meeting with Lex in the DOJ in the roundtable, one of the people there was Director Crawley. That in fact is the same (albeit in the DCU and not DCEU) Crawley from The Suicide Squad that knocked out Waller with the golf club

I remembered seeing her in TSS when I saw this movie I just didn’t know if she was playing the same character. Nice little nod to TSS (which i guess is semi canon)
