Should of went for the dunks instead of stupid f***ing concert tickets
But then again everybody be wearing Jesus pieces with him nailed to the cross so wtf do I know
mf said read white fragility
there's a systemic racism that lies deep in supreme and almost all white Owned corporations. by the way, read this book by a white corporatist
Dam
Thought the book would be fire since it has a Claudia Rankine cosign

It’s a good book
But then again everybody be wearing Jesus pieces with him nailed to the cross so wtf do I know
thats just like a religious symbol tho
I dont get why they wouldn't just address the concerns with the collab with him tho
True but i feel like he felt strongly about this and even saying oh we don't think it'll sell or we don't think people will want to wear it would probably have the same result ie him resigning.
i guess in a way it comes down to these items as commercial products vs art pieces vs somewhere in between.
I’m wit you bro, but it would look crazy if white folks was rocking a tee of a man being lynched…I can’t deny that
Clearly it wasn’t designed for white people to wear- Supreme is a funny brand to drop something like this because a good chunk of their consumers are in white boys obsessed with black culture, but I don’t think its Tremaines fault that potential (white) consumers would be uncomfortable with it or wouldn’t be able to understand that it’s not for them to wear.
To go over his head and cancel it without his input as creative director is insane, I think they were naive to hire him if they didn’t think he’d speak on the black experience here in America especially considering his resume (as well as collabing with Jafa to an extent).
thats just like a religious symbol tho
Nah I know. But when you break it down, I’ve seen people mention how it can be viewed as wild
I hear you…but would you honestly be comfortable seeing white ppl wearing a lynching shirt?
No black person is gonna see that and think “oh that’s supreme, oh Tremaine, oh ok he’s good”
I honestly believe majority of people wearing the cotton wreath designs don’t even know what it means and just think it’s a cool design. They see Kanye wearing it or Virgil (RIP) or Rocky and jump on the hype. It’s sad but that’s how life works. Whereas a lynching shirt is VERY blunt, there’s zero confusion on what it is. And of course I’m not mad at Tremaine for that but like I said, I can’t imagine white people wearing it, and I don’t blame em for not, I don’t even think I’d wanna see white ppl wearing it.
No I absolutely would not be cool with it regardless of context. I can criticize both, I'm just focusing on the inconsistency on Supreme's part at this moment.
To me that’s the type of shirt you wear when you’re trying to deliver a message, like at a protest.
Like I definitely don’t think I’m bold enough to wear that to work.
Exactly. Should've done this collab with Denim Tears instead. Supreme dont wanna sit on hundreds of thousands of these shirts in their warehouse along with the costs and public backlash that come with that.
Its crazy he left this role over something so relatively small that could've been legacy defining for him.
I dont get why they wouldn't just address the concerns with the collab with him tho
Right?!
I just read the instagram post, I'm pretty sure they wanted to put this image on a shirt as well:

Which is probably what made everyone go
along with the lynching. It's the Gucci blackface fiasco all over again, this is literally the plot of an Atlanta episode and they tried to "Paperboi" Tremaine:
nah putting this stuff on a shirt from a brand w a legacy hypebeast following would be insane. if this was like denim tears or little africa fair enough, but that's just tone deaf given who is going to be buying it

They definitely inconsistent but unfortunately it boils down to “what will sell, and what won’t”….they don’t care about delivering Tremaines vision if it’s not gonna be sold out items

I’m not even gonna lie….
I didn’t even know Tremaine was at Supreme until this news came out.
So if they did go through with these tees I would’ve been looking at Supreme all crazy lmao as alotta people would

i feel like that is/was the point tho

It’d be controversial but I think that juxtaposition is part of the statement, also if non black people are so tone deaf that they would end up wearing it that’s not really on Tremaine that they missed the point
i feel like that is/was the point tho
i know that's the point but he shouldn't be surprised other people were against it, no less black people. it's not like people were against it because they were being racist, which is what he was suggesting.

he sounds like a b**** nigga
tries to be the black super hero when he doesn’t have the resume to be saying and doing bold ass s***
your flower pattern 300$ levi’s don’t give you the ability to change billion dollar institutions
he went at ye who actually does have the resume so he could fail on his own
purely a money and branding play, but actual fashion heads know bro cashed out on all of this bs
