i'm all for addressing black plight and I don't doubt that supreme would've been for it too, in more appropriate ways than he was probably presenting them with, cuz wtf is that shirt? guy's an idiot, he should've been way more nuanced, they probably expected him to make clothes similiar to denim tears considering he f***ing created denim tears, they didn't hire a nobody, but he clearly tried to do too much too fast
He never meant to release this shirt. It's a dumb idea. He intended to profit off the fallout and attain more name recognition.
The spectacle outweighs the message with this and he knew it.
what I'm thinking

I'm not speaking to their character just strictly in terms of the clothes

I think him and Nast ghost designed some stuff if I'm not mistaken.
With that said, I will burn every piece in my closet if they make Ian CD.

idk man. 2014 - 2016 was good. I think Ian could do it, regardless of however you may feel about him as a person
i would not be surprised if they just shelve the CD role entirely. they did fine without one before TE.
Some connected dude on twitter was saying a lot of cpfm ppl have a bigger role in the company now, make of that what you will

He’s definitely not getting the reaction from this he was expecting
I glanced at his instagram post when I woke but waited a few hours before I checked to see what people online were saying. I had no idea people were so sick of him.

I think part of it is also that without the context of how he was going to launch the next collection or actual images of the items people are just looking at the images he wanted to put on shirts and kind of shrugging their shoulders and agreeing that it might have been a bit much. Obviously that’s the point of what he was trying to do but clearly people aren’t on board. Also, even with context I don’t think people would’ve reacted positively to this. Just a weird campaign overall.
Also Kanye Stans running rampant
Corporate America is so f***ing stupid, man.
Why hire Tremaine f***in Emory who’s entire career arc has been “I tell stories about the black experience through my clothes” and then you don’t let him tell stories about the black experience at Supreme.
I figured it was health related but man Supreme is cooked.
It's just another way to sell / add legitimacy to the product they have in mind
Disney hires talented directors and then have them make visual happy-meal theatre fodder, because the "Directed By" sells / adds legitimacy.
