I finally dove into the last few joints and really digged Birthing. The Beggar and Leaving Meaning were alright but didn’t always hit that mark.

Still old mon Gira putting together albums of this size is impressive

Probably their best live album. Up there with Swans are Dead and Live Rope for sure. Glad you don't have to buy a $200 CD or torrent to hear it now.

You ever heard The Gate? The performance of Frankie M on there is one of their best moments ever

So nobody else here listened to this LOL i think its my favorite swans of the 21st centrury

Heard the first two songs last night, gonna listen in full today

I was blown away though. The End of Forgetting felt like top 1 Swans OAT in the moment.

My one minor gripe is that the mix feels pretty thin. Don't get me wrong, it's a high quality recording, but I could tell there were moments where the low end should've had way more impact.

I haven't checked any of the bootlegs from this tour yet. Any of those widely considered the "best" recordings? Wondering if any of those match or surpass Newly Sentient Being.

Im in the minority but i like disc 2 more for the title track, i think that s*** is my favorite of these long form songs. Albums worth of ideas and all that packed in

Tbh live rope didnt do much for me but this bro idk something about it, ive heard it like 3 times either at work or at home and it just smacks like crazy for me

No idea on the bootlegs though, i know theres some elitism within the fans about whats the better versions ill have to peep

It's hard for me to make a confident judgement on their recent live albums tho. 2 hours for the studio albums is already pushing it, but carving out 3 hours for a single live album is pretty difficult for me. Not that I personally mind the length, it's just hard to find 3 continuous hours where I can fully engage with the music, much less doing that multiple times to fully digest the album.

So over the last few years, I've treated Swans albums more like I do movies than music: Something I engage with sparingly and in-full.

I do miss when I was first getting into Swans tho. I was working a brain-dead data entry job, so I could listen to multiple of their projects in a day without being interrupted, or having to delegate any significant brain power to what I was working on.

Heavy on the line about treating it like movies, i literally listen to this and walk away from it the same way i take in some incredible movie i just watched, and this s*** even has a credits roll lol

When i was unemployed this time last year i had all the time in the world to bum around and spend hours getting into them

Holding out on listening til my copy arrives

That tour was straight up the best show of my life so I am extremely hyped for this
