• Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi is planning to visit Taiwan soon, the highest ranking U.S official to visit the land since Speaker Newt Gingrich in 1997

• China has warned about action against this visit for months (she was scheduled to do this in April but caught COVID), recently going as far to threat military action if she visits. It is well known that diplomatic relations with Taiwan is a redline for China

• President Biden has floated concerns that the military doesn't think it's the best time to visit, but Pelosi seems set to go forward anyways

• Any move could trigger a 4th crisis along the Taiwan Straight since 1955, this time with a PLA who are much stronger than ever.

• This all comes near the same time Taiwan is also hosting their largest naval exercises, and civilians are practicing air raid drills in cities
