Thinking of doing it to join a program. I make 21 now and would be making 13 an hr. Would make 33 at the end of program

How long until the program is over? what is the program?
Is it basically a guarantee you will get to the 33?

Electrician program. Looking to change careers. Would take a few years
whatever makes you happy and if the investment is guaranteed return
i took a pay cut awhile back for a different job but am way more relaxed/happy. the potential to make more money in a year (or few lol) is there also, so while monetarily it currently sucks a bit, i benefit everywhere else

A few years might be rough but as the other person mentioned you can't buy happiness.
There are now more ways than ever to have side gigs supplement your income maybe look into a few of those while you rough it out.
And budgeting is your friend

My rent is currently 1100 a month.
Would need to make that every month. It be going from 21hr to 13 initially. I would just need a way to supplement that income. Maybe doordash or something

$1100 rent on only 13/hr is steep. Look for cheaper rent if you can

Knowing now this is to be an electrician do it. Totally worth it. High level blue collar work never goes out of style and you will only be worth more money in the coming decade as all the electricians retire.
13 an hour sucks ass but I pulled it off in the restoration field with tons of overtime. I'd assume you have ot availability as well here
If you work a lot you can make rent but you should probably look for a cheaper place for the program

May try to get a roommate. Program doesn't start to July

I'm doing pretty solid financially but i still have housemates. It keeps your life social if they are cool

Yeah that's more than double what I pay but I just have a small apartment
It sounds completely worthwhile if you plan to switch careers. As long as you can still live comfortably enough on your diminished wages, it is going to benefit you in the long run.
I got complacent for awhile after HS working a job that paid incredibly at the time for an 18 year old, but didn’t have much room to move up. Wish I would have moved on sooner.

I live in ATL though I could probably find a studio for like 800-900. I would rather downsize with a roommate then pay that.

Most of my friends married or living with girlfriends

Would have to make an adjustment to living situation. Rn I'm in a 1 bedroom in an expensive part of town
About 45k a year at 21-22 an hr
hmm
Well if you can live below your means until the program is over it’ll be worth it
