the delay has more to do with contractual problems between Madlib's manager and Talib Kweli than with sample clearances, but it seems like that issue has been resolved recently, so now it's probably only the samples holding it back.

I dunno her name but the woman on the top right slowly blinking while Talib tells that twitter story from his perspective is hilarious tbf it seems like in that situation Talib was just being massively paranoid / triggered and just frankly acting kinda dumb trying to force something to combat the "attack" against him. The "Talib harasses girls on twitter" narrative is way too simplified

Also I don't wanna get my hopes up too much for summer since we're already nearing June, but I got a good feeling we might be eating this year already.

Talib paid for the entire project out of pocket, so he wants to receive all the money from it. Madlib’s manager has a 15% flat rate that is not up for discussion because if he lets it slide once there’s a precedent for other rappers to start f***ing over madlib, plus we already know producers in the industry barely get any respect. And so both felt entitled to the money and it took years of negotiation to solve
