What site everybody using for tax returns, looking for some good recommendations
I’ve used turbo tax in the past but I’m thinking of switching. If you have to go past filing a basic W2 and have sold cryptocurrency it costs 200+ to file a return. That plus the amount of ads they subject you to for even the basic paid version is insane.
Credit Karma because my tax returns ain't that complicated anyways and I just want it simply done with an easy interface.
Plus, I get to open it pretty easy and see the summary of how much I'm gonna get back. Makes me open it every few just to look at what my refund is gonna be.
H&R Block
TurboTax
Imma go to a person this year.
I’ve used Credit Karma since I’ve started doing taxes and it’s easy and great.
But max ive gotten is $240 while having to pay the state $45
I’ve heard people in my bracket be getting back $1000+
So imma give that a shot

I think I just have one dependent which is myself.
Since I don’t have a dependent I can’t claim HOH, so that causes me to lose out on some money.
But both are set up the same. I’m assuming people who get more money back have extra tax breaks the tax worker puts in.

I only file for myself and I'm in the same situation as you, I've never gotten under $1,000 as a college student.
I have my s*** set as 0 & 0. My brother has his set as 1 & 1. He gets less back, but more money (slightly) in his paycheck because he has less taxes.
I get more taken out of my taxes throughout the year, and then more back at the end of the year than he does.
Neither of us have dependents or credits. Sometimes it's' just about how you set up your taxes with your employer and no tax breaks.

Yea when I was in college I was getting a lot more.
I’ve heard different stuff about the whole claiming yourself part.
They’ve also told to tell my employer to take out additional taxes on my checks so I could get more back at the end of the year but I think that’s pointless.
