well this is all after her mindset change on this matter so i acknowledge how selective of like her collaborators are

so with her now it's like you're either a smaller artist or someone that isn't in direct or slightly near competition with her. thus why she's still so willing to embrace sabrina despite how big she's gotten

then on the flipside i guess you have ppl she's "targeted" which either slighted her to some extent (billie and charli) or are in a position to directly compete with the role that taylor has (olivia)

tldr: charli wrote a song "sympathy is a knife" about how seeing taylor backstage at her boyfriend's shows made her feel insecure cause they're totally opposites and she could never be the same kind of pop star she is

by the end of the song charli makes it clear tho she doesn't want to be friends.. that she has to be fake around taylor and she was hoping matty healy (lead singer of the 1975) would dump taylor so she didn't have to interactive with her anymore

Two questions because I don’t keep up with either of them that much:

1. I know Charli has the song talking about how she feels small in a room with Taylor, but besides the boring Barbie/Coke line, how are people sure this is directed at Charli? The rest of the lyrics don’t seem too specific (and implying that the coke reference points specifically to Charli XCX is crazy lmao)

2. If it is about her, why are they beefing? I see Taylor made positive comments about her in an interview in August of last year, why would she diss her all of a sudden a year later?

I feel like if Taylor was going to dedicate an entire song to her she should have came with some actual dirt on her, would have an actual impact beyond just the swifties. Instead she ironically dedicated an entire song to Charli just to say “lol why are you so obsessed with me”

yeah but also like a lot of the examples what you just named was kinda like before this whole shift happened

and honestly this "shift" is kinda hard and convoluted to briefly explain but essentially she almost fell off but came back hard with midnights and is now just very i guess "protective" of her position in the game and how she moves
