ThomForkI think Folklore is the better "album," but this one tries to do way more than Folklore ever really did. I admire that about it because that's something I definitely wasn't expecting.
It varies on whether those experiments work for you, but if you're a fan of Bon Iver or The National, you'll probably dig this one more than Folklore.

this reminds me of how i felt about Lust For Life. kind of experimental yet scattered, but some really standout tracks. i feel like this era really puts the stamp on her songwriting more than anything. she's talented and deserves the praise she's getting for it.
