'Midnights' is on track to for a 1.8-2 million debut. billboard just announced she sold 800k PURE ALBUMS on the first day. based on that trajectory, artists usually get another 400k on the rest of the days combined, giving her a ~ 1.2 million total.
then there are stream equivalents: when drake's CLB broke the Spotify record and set 155 million streams on the first day, he got 613,000 SEAs overall. taylor should therefore be on track to get 700,000 SEAS. shes's at least getting a 1.8-1.9 million.

This album has 68 pages? Nice!

I’m a resident Taylor Swift stan and man did she deliver with this album. The more I listen the better it gets!

    Midnights early feelings:
Lavender Haze- “I feel” vocal change grew on me on plus the lyrics are incredible and the beat is infectious. The ohohohow section makes me want to dance. New score: 10/10.
Maroon- Love the lyrics and vocals but the beat feels very basic. Initial Score: 8/10 song but could go higher.

Anti-Hero- The lyrics and vocals are on point. This song definitely feels like it fits into the theme of thoughts during restless nights. First song that truly feels that way. New score: 10/10

Snow on the Beach- The sound, the lyrics, the vocal delivery, and vocals are top notch. Even though Lana is just in the background, her background vocals are incredible and the bouncing off of Taylor vocals make the song way better than it would have been without her. One of her best songs ever made if I’m being honest. Initial Score: 10/10

You’re on Your Own Kid- This song embodies the classic pop Taylor that I’ve always loved. Feels like it could fit on Red which is my favorite Taylor Swift album. The beat is infectious, the best sound so far on the album. The lyrics are top notch, real, and relatable. The vocals are the best on the album so far. By far my favorite song on the album after initial listens. Initial Score: 10/10

Midnight Rain- Sound/beat sounds weird to me. Might grow on me. Vocals are on the weaker side. Initial Score: 6/10 but could go higher.

Question- Love the lyrics and wish I could be kissed in a crowded room. Vocals are incredible on this song. initial score: 10/10

Vigilante- Sounds like a bad reputation leftover. Least favorite on the album by far. Not a fan of the production, lyrics are weak compared to other tracks, and the vocals don’t sound like something Taylor would sing. Initial score: 4/10 but could go higher.

Bejeweled- the best feels like I’m listening to old school owl city. Has a nice infectious electronic vibe too it. Taylor’s vocals are incredible and the lyrics are “boss girl” but in a good way! New score: 10/10

Labyrinth- 100% a Lover (album) vibe to this track. Some might find the lyrics a bit repetitive but I find it a really nice love song. Beat and lyrics compliment the vocals well. Initial score: 10/10

Karma- The insane vocals are ruined a bit by the lyrics but I think the lyrics might be grow on me. Really love the sound, production, and vocals of the track. But what was she thinking with these lyrics. Hard to judge a score for this but I guess 10/10 for now because the rest of the song is THAT good.

Sweet Nothing- Slower track where nothing is bad but nothing crazily stands out either. Initial score: 8/10

Mastermind- POP BANGER. Exactly what I wanted from a modern Taylor pop song. Incredible beat, vocals, lyrics, infection. Might be one of her best songs ever. Initial Score: 10/10

The only track I’m not feeling at all is Vigilante but take it with a grain of salt because it sounds like a Reputation track and Reputation is my least favorite pop album by Taylor. If you love reputation you will probably love that track. I do find the Karma lyrics a bit weird but the sound of the song is good. In the exact opposite, Midnight Rain has good lyrics but the beat just makes it sound off. I have a feeling these two tracks could easily grow on me to higher rating though. Overall the album is a good listen, not sure how I’d compare it to other Taylor albums yet but I think it’s a good album with lots of songs that might end up in my favorites list.
Favorites after initial listens have to be: 1. You’re On Your Own Kid 2. Mastermind 3. Snow on the Beach

Initial album ranking thoughts: won’t pass Red, 1989, and Folklore. Could potentially pass Lover, Speak Now, and Fearless. 100% better than Debut, Reputation, and Evermore.

    Album score: 9/10
AOTY ranking: Either 🥇or🥈 (Mom Jeans album has no bad songs and nothing but bangers but let me see if I end up liking Midnights more despite having a bad song and one 6/10 because of how good the highs of the album are.)

    3am bonus tracks:
The Great War- Storytelling is very good in this track, production is top notch. Vocals are on point. Initial Score: 10/10

Bigger Than the Whole Sky- Slow, somber banger. Her voice is so beautiful on this track. The lyrics are incredible, the sound is love in my ears. Initial Score: 10/10

Paris- This a lover album style pop BANGER. That’s all you need to know. WOW. Initial Score: 10/10

High Infidelity- The production is one of Taylor’s best ever. Catchy, infectious, makes me want to dance. Lyrics and vocals are off the charts. One of the best songs on the album. Initial Score: 10/10

Glitch- Production sounds like a reputation reject but somehow is still addicting? Initial Score: 8/10

Would’ve Could’ve Should’ve- Storytelling is amazing, love the lyrics. Vocals are incredible, production is top notch. Possible one of the best on the album. Initial Score: 10/10

Dear Reader- The vocal changes are really weird. Doesn’t feel like an album ender. Solid lyrics though. Initial Score: 7/10

Incredible album, might be AOTY after these 3am tracks came out.

Kinda listened to the Taylor swift album with my girlfriend in the car last night, and I have no idea how it’s getting perfect reviews. I’ve never listened to a Taylor album front to back, but even I can tell that was nowhere near the quality she’s put out in past artworks nice tho

It’s better than a lot of her past albums IMO. It’s a very quality album. Definitely better than Debut, Reputation, and Evermore for me. Possibly better than Lover, Fearless, and Speak Now as well.

I'm still coming around on the Snow on the Beach to Bejeweled run, I wasn't super high on it off first listen but I spent a car ride yesterday listening to those 6 tracks on repeat a couple times and got a better feel for them. Midnight Rain and Question are still iffy.

I did a complete 180 on Vigilante S*** The instrumental still isn't great but I really love her subdued vocals on it.

Album definitely growing on me with each listen

700k SEAS? I’ll actually respect the numbers if she does that, that’s insane in 2022. I don’t really respect the 32 physical versions s*** even if she is moving 1M+ with them

Imagine her back on hip hop drum breaks and trip hop s*** again (cocc had a song like this but for a full album)

Would love for her to get back on that or back with Dan Aurebach Ultraviolence was unfairly s*** on back in the day
