Aaron Dessner and Justin Vernon were writing music in the pandemic for the next Big Red Machine album and Taylor reached out to Dessner and asked if he had anything she could write to.

He sent her a ton of stuff (because Dessner writes a behemoth amount of songs) and she wrote to just about all of them. That's where the albums came from. Many of the Folklore/Evermore songs already existed and had been played. Here's some examples:

In the liner notes for Folklore and Evermore, Taylor actually doesn't play a single instrument.

taylor has three undeniable classic albums plus several more solid projects, none of the artists mentioned have even one true classic aside from billie but even then billie hasn't reached the heights of red or folklore

I fw billie and olivia but billie has declined since her debut, her last project was mad overrated with little to no staying power outside of birds and happier than ever was a bloated mess... and o rod... come on, I love her music but she hasn't even tapped into her potential as an album artist yet lol, she's basically a singles artist
