Though he is one of the biggest ones. Music Reviews had always impact on perception of music. Especially in america. Those reviews were make or break for artist back in the day. Now its very different because music is available for everyone but i believe this relic of injustice from white reviewers in those early days maybe what punch remembers is playing into wanting to make Fantano an exemple that times changed.

I hate this “not black enough to have an opinion on black artist’s music” narrative.

If Fantano loved the album it wouldn’t be any of that energy from Isaiah & Punch, it would be “Thanks dog, all love” back on the bird app.

Rappers and their management even getting on social media and complaining about bad reviews is an embarrassment no matter how you look at it. Just take your L and keep it moving, if your album rollout was really as successful as you say it’s been, you wouldn’t even have time or energy to debate s***.

People talk down on fantano for a lot of stuff, but I seriously think he does it to entertain a wider audience.

so what's the alternative? not being critical with an opinion because it MAY turn some listeners away? this is the risk that you take as an artist when releasing a project, some critics aren't going to like it. it's not some deep seated issue that needs to be corrected. i love the zay album and i'm ok that fantano doesn't like it. hits every one differently
