While putting a chink in that same guys legacy to an extent. Small chink but a chink nonetheless

dude you’re right but honestly as time goes by the only thing I even really remember about that beef is how bad of a strategist meek is, even over the ghostwriting stuff

Agreed. You know the wild part about how Meek performed in that situation? He did better in the beef with Cassidy in his warning to Kendrick.

Also I always took it as Wanna Know not being meant to solely be a diss but an expose which used the reference tracks to prove his point. Which was supposed to cause the GP to question Drakes authenticity if he was proven to use writers or reference tracks.

And in that way it was effective but what really drove the point home was when Meek finally became somewhat of a strategist and played Drakes hand when he released War Pain moments after Drake released Summer Sixteen and had a rebuttal for everything Drake said in Summer Sixteen. While he was courtside at the 76ers game with Nicki like he said he would be in the song.

But the point is that NONE of that mattered/matters. When people do an overlook of that situation, he didn't come out as the victor. Drake didn't only win the battle but he also won the war and winning the war always trumps winning the battle because that's the memory that lasts in people's minds. Drake did a whole victory lap after that beef with Hotline Bling, WATTBA and then Views while Meek was left in the dust.

To a lot of people right now, Meek is a joke. Part of that is because of what happened with the whole Back to Back situation but MOSTLY because of how much he's set his own self up to be a joke since then through his tweets and other stuff.

His career also didn't get a true revival after that beef until 2018 with Going Bad (a track Drake is entirely responsible for making a smash hit and the biggest hit of Meek's career) so the guy who killed him also revived him.

Meek definitely lost the beef but the biggest hit happened to Drake for sure. Drake's writing credibility is forever shot. He was definitely going to be undisputed top 10 around that time. Meek could have easily ended Drake's career as an MC at that point. Yeah we woulda f***ed with the music but we would view him more like kanye or dr dre than kendrick or cole.

Factually drake has written multiple songs for OTHER artists as well as his own songs. It’s just internet s*** from people who just want to hate drake. It’s just hate to pretend drake isn’t an elite writer now

He’s written songs for everyone from Alicia Keys to Kanye. Raps and RnB plus continues to out rap people in the PURIST MC lane + that s*** old now and people acknowledge drake status every other day.

Drake is one of the most accomplished songwriters in rap history. Anybody bringing up Quentin Miller or ghostwriting in 2021 will be made to look like a fool. I've seen people who aren't even Drake fans defend him when people try to bring up that s***.

Anyone who has sense knows how accomplished of a songwriter Drake is. Only idiots will still hold on to the idea that his legacy has been affected in any real way.

The hate on drake as an MC or as real hip hop started way before the writing s***. That’s what makes his run and status more unique imo. The writing s*** just have those who wanted to discredit another angle

But ultimately they know his name always gonna be in these Convos now

Not gonna deny that. Every all-time great gets hate. Every rapper has one issue that people gonna hold them to no matter what and Drake's writing credibility is that. It's no different than when people criticize Nas for never delivering something like Illmatic after 94, Jay losing the feud to rap or never being undisputed top dog or riding Kanye and Beyonces hype for more longevity, Eminem being white, Wayne influencing "mumble rap", pac and big dying, etc. S*** just happens.
