they spend nearly 50% less public money than the US and the US doesn’t even have a healthcare system. cheeseburgers and pancakes can’t account for that difference. squeezing profit out of every level of the supply chain does
It does though. Not saying that this is the only reason but it plays a big part. When healthcare falls on the government they want to minimize the cost, and a good way to lighten the bill is to have a healthy population. They usually do this through regulations and ad campaigns.
Northern Europe has a lot of issues with racism and a big part of why they are able to get people on board with socialized policy is because they are insular and homogenized populations. The uncomfortable truth is that people are more more willing to help others that look and act like them.
It really isn’t fair to compare that to a country that is more than 10x bigger and dealing with issues that come with a diverse population. We have more Trump voters than Sweden has people.
This reminds me of @HAV telling me kangaroos in australia being a myth
saw a baby one and got tf outta there before the parents came and hit me with a clean two-piece

I advocate for social democracy BUT implemented in multiracial countries like UK, US, Canada and so on
It’s a tell when whites praise scandinavia as the pinnacle of society bcus those countries are dangerously racist and xenophobic
If yr a minority youll face a better day to day life in North America as far as race
Despite the better quality of life in Sweden, I'm confident it's boring as f*** throughout the whole country and is full of nothing but xenophobic anti-social people
then again, this is just what i hear
It is
And it’s like this in most other non US western countries. Despite the many things wrong in the states as a young poc there just isnt a more culturally fulfilling place than America
Shi i moved to canada which is as “USA” without being USA as u get and even here f***ing sucks. Literally every social, work interaction is surrounded by 95% whites and their culture and the little idiosyncrasies that’ll drive any poc mad
Id kill my self if i had to live in sweden and im a pretty left wing person

Europeans lead healthier lifestyles, sure, but the difference doesn’t account for the insane price gouging that is standard in America’s slipshod healthcare patchwork
for anyone interested, here’s the single most insightful resource about American healthcare from a fiscal conservative lens. And in really simple and easy-to-understand terms. Very engaging as well. If you find an hour to listen, I think every American should:

The first part of yr paragraph is hundred percent true but the second part isn’t exactly
Canada Uk and germany are all pretty multiracial countries with social democratic elements
countries in scandinavia generally try to keep flexible labor markets (lower corporate tax rates, no minimum wage, and generally better protections for job seekers) balanced with flat taxes (VAT, consumption taxes, and flatter income taxes from what you'd see in the U.S.) to maintain their welfare states
this differs from country to country but it's generally how it works.

We are like one election away from having that type of government in the US. They really aren’t taking care of their citizens the same way as the Nordic model.
