Critics have to play the game in two weeks and write a review. Then the aggregate of all that rushing is treated as Gospel by nerds online.

They could easily give reviewers more time to review it if they cared
Tried to force press this to save the image to share and instead all i get is a magnifying glass of a flaming p**** on my screen. Thanks apple.

I think they fear there would be too many bugs but yes gaming overall should aim to give reviewers a month with the game in an early access like state while dropping multiple patches or updates direct to reviewers some how

I mean, it’s their job, so if you think of it as 8 hours a day over a two week period they can get about 80 in (if you count it as 5 days a week).
I feel like you can get a good grasp of the core mechanics and beyond within that time frame.
This game might be 10/10

You know they also need to write and edit review? And the fact they need to rush means they have a radically different experience. The best reviews are always the ones coming a month after release, but publications want something Day One, the internet being about the instant and nothing else.

Yeah I recognize that, they take notes and everything throughout the process.
I’m saying that for the most part they can get a good grasp of the quality of a game in that span of time, especially this one given its nature, it’s narrative being more minimalist compared to similar titles.
They should be given more time, but as a token the developers should also be given more time to polish their titles so that they won’t be so apprehensive to sent them out so far in advance.
