Based on real events, A HIDDEN LIFE is the story of an unsung hero, Franz Jägerstätter, who refused to fight for the Nazis in World War II. When the Austrian peasant farmer is faced with the threat of execution for treason, it is his unwavering faith and his love for his wife Fanni and children that keeps his spirit alive.

Was literally just talking on here a couple weeks ago about Disney doing this continually with international and arthouse festival releases for the past 30 years while feeding the film press and audiences the lie that consumers "vote with their money", which has caused everyday people to actually believe it and repeat the "audiences WANT to see franchise blockbusters" bullshit all over the internet.

So i cant say im surprised by this, but i guess we're just in Miramax/Weinstein era Round 2....

Funny you say that, cause yesterday I was picturing what a more action or horror-based Malick film would look like and I really wanna find out haha

he's very gifted at capturing character emotion with those close up non-traditional camera angles. I should be a movie executive or something. I feel those boomers in the head office have no sense of direction or creativity.

i get it its all fast food money....

Think Thin Red Line is the most action-based Malick you’ll get

Oh i know, i was just entertaining the idea of him doing something even more high octane haha, especially after that short wild scene in Hidden Life

film sxn needs a general purpose terry malick appreciation thread

  • Mar 15, 2020

bump for movie of the year. make sure you watch

  • Mar 15, 2020

Not too big of a fan of Malick‘s camera work but it somehow really works in that mountain/alps setting
