ok so we agree it solves none of the causes. now, yes, it might result in some short term relief, but I want you to ask again what causes crime and how police presence affects those causes. Think about it for a bit, and consider that police presence might actually exacerbate the underlying causes, even as it provides some short term relief.

u could understand it as a feedback loop. crime calls for more police, lore police decrease crime in the short term, but before you know it, crime is back up to where it was, and then people call for more police, and the cycle continues.

sure, technically you might temporarily solve the issue of crime by throwing more police at it, and technically you could say the long term solution is just to steadily increase police presence forever. But that ignores the many negative side effects of this cycle.

if u doubt the cycle exists, ask urself why the nypd budget always increases no matter what the crime situation is
