I just think it’s more reasonable to understand that police simply cannot prevent crime. They’re only responders
The only way to truly prevent crime is to tackle the root causes of it. This includes poverty, abuse, discrimination, neglect, and mental illness
Attacking these root causes will create far more positive change than any police officer can hope
Our police force is more well funded than every military in the world except China’s, yet we have a higher rate of violent crime and violent murder than almost all first world countries. It’s time to seek alternative solutions
These are systemic issues that will take a long time to fix/see the results of. In the meantime how about we ensure people aren’t being violently attacked commuting to their jobs since we have the resources to up the security of the subway stations. You could even reduce funding overall, allocate it towards addressing those issues while at the same time increasing the presence within subway stations. Two things can be true at once.
Prolly that 1887 dude
You a sick f*** for joking about a terrorist attack in my city but you live across a cornfield so you prolly bored
America would collapse in a day if you took away the entertainment
I swear to god the Bucks sitting out the playoffs over police violence was going to radicalize more of the country than any actual case of police violence.
Obama had to get on the phone and tell them to shut up and dribble

The NYPD clearly failed at that, with 35,000 officers and $10bn spent in 2021

Here we go with the racist attacks on Obama lol
Nice edit, sorry but we not letting white people say the n word
America just has a very violent culture in general
When did violence glamorization start? When y’all won ww2? Western movies? (Serious question)

Dawg I am not sitting here saying the NYPD is currently doing everything right. This is how we’ve even ended up having this conversation. They should be heavily focusing on s*** that is actually an issue like the safety of public transportation.
dont let the BLM and pro ukraine flags on twitter fool you
progressives do not care as much about the common man as you think
come to berkeley if u think im lying!
Now im very pro gun control but the whole debate about guns miss the point to an extent
It doesn't explain why so many Americans get the urge to go on mass shooting rampages
Now guns are much more scarce in my country the UK and its true we got a lot of knife crime as a result.... But we don't have people going on mass stabbing sprees, which I feel like would happen in US if they somehow magic all the guns out of there. Guns make it a lot easier but that's the real sickness, the evil in the American people
Because they can and have access to guns far easier than anywhere else. It really is that simple.
In countries where social safety nets are worse than in the US you don't see them mass murdering people at the rates the US does. Only countries in Central America and the Caribbean compare.
When did violence glamorization start? When y’all won ww2? Western movies? (Serious question)
Not american but from its very inception lol
Can't have a settler colonial country built on genocide, constant conquest, militarism and the most brutal form of slavery without having a culture that accomodates and justifies that

Spree shooting is a relatively recent thing

I think the war propagnada and videogames (yeah) play their part too

America was built on colonial violence, committed genocide a few times, has been at war for 93% of its history, and has some of the highest firearm ownership rates and violent crime rates in the modern world. It even has the highest incarceration rate in the world.
It’s inherent
When did violence glamorization start? When y’all won ww2? Western movies? (Serious question)
political groups started using guns as a cultural wedge issue in the 90s
I think the war propagnada and videogames (yeah) play their part too
Video games are marginal. Tons of other countries have video games
