the set itself as far as mixing, etc goes was nothing special, but y'all just had to be there. the raw energy from the crowd was insane. felt like one giant warehouse party, everyone around me in the crowd completely let loose. what a great f***ing end to the weekend.

i can’t even imagine how it was in person. S*** was cathartic even from home.

Imo it’s exactly this that made it so iconic. I know people itt have been clowning Viet for calling it a shift, but bringing this kind of energy and space to let loose to the Coachella main stage - particularly in contrast to Frank and particularly with this kind of crowd, and live-streamed in full quality no less - is new for American mainstream music.

I mean I love Calvin, but compare this to his set even. So much less serious and traditionally EDM. This is electronic music on the main stage, bringing small show energy to a crowd of thousands. They just proved it’s not only possible to do, but to excel on short notice. That’s a shift to me.

Fred is alright to me and it was amazing to see ktt/so many people excited over his boiler set and music last summer and moving forward so this isn't me hating at all but what's the historic shift in music related to Fred that you're talking about?

All 3 of them throwing a Boiler Room type set on a scale like that to close Coachella gonna open the door for more sets like that in the future
