I been in the mood for some good recent fantasy movies and I'm honestly surprised that there isn't much coming from the 2010s decade. I'm talking about whimsical, adventurous, all around just high fantasy movies. Maybe I been sleeping but the only ones I can name is a monster calls, Pete's dragon and okaja if that counts
I don't know if sci fi really counts either like that's in its own lane even though attack the block looks great
• Holy Motors
• Cemetery of Splendor
• Uncle Boonmee Who Can Recall His Past Lives
• The Three Musketeers
• Cloud Atlas
• The Lure
And even though i wouldn't rank it near the films above, Jupiter Ascending is a fun watch and isn't as awful as it's been made out to be. Similarly, Alita: Battle Angel is pretty solid too.
Also kinda relevant: If you haven't watched Shrek Retold yet, you're missing out
Annihilation, Inception, Edge of Tomorrow
These are sci fi homie but I heard edge of tommorow is f***ing amazing and based off a manga apparently

Got uncle boome and the lore saved you real as f*** for some reason I been avoiding Shrek retold because I thought it was a cheesy straight to DVD movie but I'm about to check the trailer out
Stardust was such a good movie they don't make movies like that anymore
This what I mean when I talk about fantasy movies fr

Nah Shrek Retold is a massive fan-effort where a s*** ton of professional and amateur animators, filmmakers, illustrators, etc... each created one scene from the original Shrek movie, and then all of them are sequenced together.
So you're watching the first shrek movie, but every few seconds the art style and skill changed COMPLETELY. It's just a really fun thing to watch and the fandom's effort in it is pretty admirable
They uploaded it to Youtube for free:
I think 2010s is even worse for comedy movies. Comedy movies used to be superhero movies now, now you barely see any
Troll Hunter is great, had a lot of fun with that one
It’s like a Scandinavian Cloverfield, found footage and all
Shape of Water, A Ghost Story (not your classic fantasy), The Lure havent been mentioned yet, but yea the 10s werent that great for fantasy movies
Beyond the Black Rainbow
The Lure
Mandy
The Lighthouse
Krampus
The Lego Movie
Honorable mention to Dave Mad a Maze which wasn't amazing, but was kind of cool.
