The ideal world where gun ownership is illegal is the same ideal world where there are no guns on the streets. Neither is feasible so arguing semantics about it is pointless
But, stopping the flow of illegal weapons is a lot more feasible than banning guns. The ATF has been historically and purposefully underfunded by Republicans in Congress for that exact reason.
The political reality where gun confiscation becomes law is the same political reality where the ATF actually become a useful government organization. You can't have one without the other, so your framing here is completely bogus

Because it’s their 2A right to have guns. You hear them speak enough they go on and say they shouldn’t be any restriction on gun buying so they can defend themselves against the government if that day is ever needed.
