Tkkenthe welfare state in kerala is financed by keralites living in the gulf lol. like a third of their state income is from remittances alone (absurdly disproportionate), which doesn't even account for the interfamilial trade economy that migrants generate
theres a kind of subtle wealth inequality as a result, where families supported by migrant workers are more likely to have better housing, QOL, etc. and as a result of all of this, it comes as no surprise that their internal unemployment rate is pretty high
