Ive physically seen people fake streams before. A lot of them put already popular artists to stream along with themselves so they dont get caught because every once in a while Spotify pretends to crack down on it. Some artists DO buy streams themselves but a lot of super popular artists are getting stray fake streams whether they need it or not
