Progressives primarying corporate Dems and getting into office is a fairly recent thing that started happening prior to the last election cycle.... The numbers have been growing in a relatively short time period.... Yes these are all concerns that have to be taken into account, but as there is a growing progressive movement on the left... There's also a growing support for fascists under the guise of faux populist conservatives.... It wouldn't be hard to envision a fascist more skilled and competent than Trump happening if people were to actually abandon the electoral process entirely... Since most of those people would be at least nominally on the left... The vast majority Republicans have no intention of doing such a thing.... A neoliberal will still be preferable in any such situation.
I'm sure you remember Bernie was able to pass the War Powers Resolution Act to stop the US funding and assistance of the Saudis genocide in Yemen by getting a few GOP libertarians and constitutionalists on board like Rand Paul and Mike Lee... It was of course vetoed by Trump... Biden in an announcement back in Feb... One that was argued for by Bernie and Ro Khanna gave the US a new policy on Yemen... the US won’t help the Saudi-led coalition fight in Yemen anymore... No US help to refuel warplanes, collect intelligence, or target positions... also the US won’t sell weapons to Saudi Arabia or the United Arab Emirates that they could use during the war like the advanced warplanes and precision-guided munitions... Obviously this isn't nearly enough, but this undoubtedly will save innocent lives.
The US system will not allow itself to slide into that type of dictatorial fascism is another point I think youre misguided on. The one we have now is the perfect servant of capital. let the people vote every few years, pretend there is some major difference in the candidates, the corporate interest keeps winning. theres a reason trumps own judges and GOP members kept throwing that s*** under the bus. There isn't enough time in the world to rely on progressives, who are themselves insufficient in ideology and numbers, to continuously run and win for office. by the time that strategy works lol, its too late. especially when you can find as many who lost as who won
and yes that is all well and good but does it solve that conflict? no. do we still remain allies with saudi arabia, yes. do we still support genocide elsewhere, yes.
