“The cover that you see out there has elements of the original cover,” Shawn begins to explain in the clip which you can watch above. “The full cover was done and was done to the specifics that were indicated and the team came back and said that ‘we want to make these major changes’. However, the deadline was the 17th and they came back to me on the 16th and I was like ‘I got it done on the 14th because you had a major deadline to release it on the 17th’,” he continued.

“And they were like we want to make these major changes and I was like ‘wow that is shocking to me after going through all these details.'” Shawn says he told the team that although his heart wasn’t into the changes that they were requesting, he would still do it and therefore, sent a new invoice to them. Unfortunately, Shawn says he never heard back from the team again and the next thing he sees is the official artwork being revealed by the artists.

“It didn’t go as well as I wanted it and that is not the real Pen & Pixel cover that was designed,”

Sounds like they just wanted the name recognition and didnt care about the artistic expression, brother!

They came up with the concept, and then someone else perfected it. No shame in that.

While the final version is better, it fully sounds like they would’ve been willing to do that version if Boomin’s team just didn’t ask P&P the absolute last second

upper half is dope but idk about the rest

final version is perfect, but i'm still using the vinyl alt cover since it fits better with 21's other albums

I said it in another thread but they knocked this album out the park every step of the way. Classic cover imo glad they didn’t use the OG it doesn’t do it justice

Also, Metro/21 and their teams ghosted P&P after they sent another invoice for the additional proposed changes

as a creative, this is exactly the f*** s*** artists and labels pull all the time. Its gross and commonplace

On one side, they already paid for what they initially asked for and it’s their property, but on another, they clearly took this in a different direction, yet are still trying to pass it off as official

Last minute changes happen and with short deadlines you can’t always rely on the artist to give you what you wan in time that’s all

The P&P elements are still there they didnt just use the name shamelessly

wow as a graphic designer i get where he is coming from with them being s***ty with timing for revisions but f*** shout out to whoever had to recreate it and made it a lot better. wild story

"hey this is great, heres all the changes we want, its due tomorrow"

and then they dont pay you for the extra time you put into it/have someone else do it and either give you credit (if youre P&P they do) or they dont give you credit and give it to someone else
