    Middle class was eliminated after the 08 housing crisis when big business realized they could do whatever they wanted and all they had to do was lobby American government and the tax payer would bail them out.

    Banks and real estate companies got their money back but everyday middle class people lost everything. If I remember correctly something like $5 Trillion in pensions, savings, real estate value, 401k and bonds "disappeared"

    That's when the societal shift happened
