Hasn't even started yet
The newest Superman has my interest but I have seen nothing from DC in recent years to personally give me any faith. I hope there is competition so it makes Marvel actually try harder!

I genuinely can't believe he used himself with GOTG as an example here
He literally got fired. His tweets aren't even informative at this point
i wonder why guardians 3 took so long to come out almost like he got fired for some sus reason at some point and delayed production
I feel like yall are a little too heated over this
Like I get it but I feel a lot of vitriol ITT
I feel like folks are using a lot of imagination when it’s probably just as simple as they are describing it
This is a common thing in this industry
Doesn’t mean it’ll be better
Yeah but it also doesn't mean it's gonna be just another marvel movie with the traditional mcu-ism
The whole DCU thing is more speculation than anything but I feel like a good amount of people (not just on here) are taking it as an absolute certainty
I think it’s gonna happen because I think it’s dumb to have 2 Batman running around concurrently but it’s still not 100%
We need to chill, let Matt resolve whatever’s going on and let him get the script done. Who knows maybe it’ll move up to March 2027 if there’s some breakthrough. Everyone just CALM DOWN
Or worse
True, I’m excited for the DCU to be clear
It’s just funny to me the past few years in this sxn has been nonstop discourse about how cape s*** is ruining cinema just for DC to reboot and people being like “it’ll be different this time”
So then cape s*** as a whole isn’t the problem and just like any genre it was in a down period
Yeah but it also doesn't mean it's gonna be just another marvel movie with the traditional mcu-ism
We don’t know what the DCU will be and what isms they’ll have tbf. We’re just going off of Gunn’s word and promises right now

That's my point tho. So why is everyone itt acting like if this movie moves to the dcu it's just gonna be Marvel The Batman

I think it’s coming from people wanting a clear alternative to Marvel. They’ve been on a downturn obviously and are looking for something to “save” the genre. So DC looks like it could be that. The superhero genre is not a problem obviously.

I don’t personally mind the merge but if that’s not what Reeves wants which it was initially reported he wanted to do his own thing, forcing him to merge doesn’t inspire confidence

There’s obviously a sense of James Gunn having his paws on everything based on how he’s the talking head for DC now. They’re clearly ignoring the fact that James is putting the creatives first rather than an overall story arc. I feel like people are “burned” by Marvel and how they ran their universe with everything going through Feige.
We won’t really know if that is going to hold true until we see Lanterns. That’s the first project where Gunn won’t be directly involved. But until then it’s going to feel like his universe only because the projects that were ready were written by him. So the string of Creature Commandos-Superman-Peacemaker will clearly feel similar. You can’t judge a whole ass universe off of that. I think until we see Lanterns we can’t say everything is going to be the same.

Yeah but that’s not what the discourse online has been which is what makes it funny to me
I figured reaves had a rough outline for the whole trilogy when he signed on lol maybe he scrapped his original plan for the last two films
Nah he treats each one as a standalone film. Like sure he may have had ideas and signed on for X amount of projects, but he did not actually start Part 2 until The Batman was out and he saw reception to the film. Even villains wise it seems like he didn't know and prob went back and forth. All he came in wanting to do was make a Year 2 Batman film
His Apes films were even more detached than this with the time skips Dawn and War had
I understand the pont he’s trying to make, but I know Gunn is not using Top Gun: Maverick as an example of a long development cycle for a sequel. That was a legacy sequel.

or maybe the movie never gets made jus like the batfleck solo
Yeah but it also doesn't mean it's gonna be just another marvel movie with the traditional mcu-ism
the suicide squad 2021 could have fit into the mcu perfectly
