Its their fault. They allowed general audience to be hyped on the prospects and naturally make fan art, viral posts, etc.... This should have never been allowed to be a conversation post-2022 if they were serious people. Its not even a "yall" anymore there is genuine fandom surrounding this that they can't reverse, so whichever way it goes some will be disappointed

Casuals are simple. They saw a year 2 Batman film they enjoyed and then a year 3 Superman film they enjoyed and naturally think they're a match. Gunn and Reeves oddly tiptoed the question last year and begin collaborating to the point Reeves is involved in DCU production and casting with Gunn wanting him as a director.

Every time Gunn swings hard one way regarding this he drops a bread crumb that just allows this convo to persist. Fans don't believe him anymore

I dont know if i want them to merge. I really wanted them to dive into the fantastical side of batman for the dcu and one thats already well established with his own bat family. I also want them to commit to the elseworlds side of making side stories just for the sake of it.

Only way I could see it working is that the Epic Crime Saga is a prequel for the DCU batman. But the epic crime saga would have to be finished before dcu batman appears or it'll be too confusing. And Matt is taking very long finishing it so idk

the clashing tones definitely would be a hard thing to smooth over but I really think you have to put nitpicking aside and force them together. there’s a way it can work, just gotta put the right people on it to make it happen

i think it only works if you have batman show up on strictly justice league movies. you can establish a vibe to those movies that doesn’t have to interfere with either of the character stories/movies.

having him show up in other movies would be tricky and probably require some meh self aware jokes
