I wish we were getting more than 3 films in this world. I wanna see this Batman and his villians at their peaks, not just their beginnings.
While you’re at it might as well read Snyders run if you have time. Court of Owls is Vol 1-2.
Reeves already pulled a lot of the Riddler stuff, murdering elites, the flood, etc… from Zero Year. Still hesitant they’re going for Owls but would fully embrace it easily
Main thing that bothered me about 1 was the streaming and being against the rich but flooding the poor / trying to kill the mayor . First half perfect riddler then he turned very jokerish

maybe there is a time lapse for every film he's older in a different era ?...

Ngl that would be kino
And the third film is just Dark Knight Returns

Robert Pattinson is 40, was actually playing below his age in the first one so it's not far off

I don't wanna jump ahead of this movie, but i feel like if there's a super successful third movie, there won't be any rush to push him and Pattinson out the door. Depends on how they feel
Kinda like whats happened with Holland. Pattinson gets a comfortable break between each film and currently has a stacked schedule doing whatever projects he wants. Batman doesn't dominate his life like superhero roles might for shared universe actors. If this is Epic Crime Saga maybe there's another Saga in the future
So no Mr Freeze?
Mr freeze been done before so was unlikely . Would I prefer it before two face or joker ? Yes
lol yeah The Batman “looks” better than TDK (it’s 10+ yrs later) but TDK wasn’t going for the hyper stylized, neo-gothic look.
TDK’s comp, visually, is something like Heat.
Both movie are objectively competent tho…
This brings me to a different point too; the naturalistic look does a lot of work in making Heath’s Joker so terrifying. For as distinctly anamorphic and filmic it is, there’s really a sense of being there and that makes the Joker appear to be a guy in a documentary or found footage almost rather than an obvious “movie” character
It’s why a more comic booky and zany Joker would be more fitting for the cinema flare Matt Reeves is going for, as his gritty gross Joker doesn’t hit with such heightened cinematography

I mean we're comparing the lead villain (arguably character) of the film to a deleted scene here also. Its a bit unbalanced.
TDK made a noticeable tonal and cinematographic shift from BB to accommodate its pivot to Joker and a large scale action film. It abandoned a lot of the Gotham from BB to do this too. We're just assuming this Gotham stays put cus we've only seen 1 film, despite crew changes incoming
What clothes or makeup would he wear as Joker? What's the color palette? What type of crimes does he plot? All we have is what Reeves calls a "pre-Joker Joker" in an orange Arkham jumpsuit behind glass. I agree a more traditional Joker would be cool, but its not like we even have an active Joker outside in Gotham to begin our comparison with here.
I get Batman crime saga grounded but for me personally him facing some weird people like Freeze , clayface , phantasm is what truly made it . I get it’s the crime saga though so I shrug . Reeves really doesn’t f*** with the supernatural like that
I think its fantastic and telling that the automatic comparison is always TDK, but Batman Begins is right there lol. They're true counterparts that set out to adapt an iteration of Batman's Year 1 and 2.
You can't really make the jump to a TDK without that base to lift off from. We don't really know the limits of the tones and style set here until we get a teaser or release of the next film.
Just take it with an absolute grain of salt but this is the editor in chief of Nexus Point News who apparently got this text last summer.

elite run of comics

"grounded"
dont think this franchise will ever be brave enough to tap into the more fantastical side of batman's rogues gallery

I mean the fantastical side to me is what separates him from basically just being a cop. The fantastical tragic crime that he deals with . He felt too much like a cop in part 1 to me
