Is there anyone arguing he "should" ? Its more so just "is he" or not. If the film wants him to be there isn't really a discussion to be had. Most of the fan arguments are based on a race swap regardless so the haircut comment still doesn't make sense.

Good actor (Atlanta goated) but my issue is that he's nowhere near as charismatic or intense enough to be Harvey. You'd also want someone who's classically handsome and fit to give the disfigurement more weight.
I also prefer it when actors look like their comic counterparts, although it's not a requirement. For example I think the John Stewart guy would've killed it here.

If your Batman is a grungey young Batman played by actor-auteur-turned Robert Pattinson, then Timothee Chalamet as the Joker is the most compelling, clever in a meta way, and potentially iconic casting for an epic on-screen rivalry between two recognizable acting powerhouses as Batman vs Joker in this particular universe.

Though it also can’t be such a non-interesting take as the Barry take, so I say since Timothee has a comic accurate Joker facial structure already (specifically 70s-80s Joker), they can do that Penguin level makeup to Jokerfy him a bit.

Hell if they perfectly deduced that an Ichi the Killer as a prisoner looking Joker was the most interesting juxtaposition for this Batman, they could make him look more like the source instead of…that.

But it should be Timothee for Rob

This would either turn out to be a stroke of inspired genius, or the campiest cheesefest since Batman and Robin

Feel like this looks better on paper than what we'd get. I think there's other villains Timmy could make a meaningful mark on instead.

While i thoroughly enjoyed this movie, doing Joker reminds me of him being Wonka which he did competently but didn't really himself apart in any unique way really from previous iterations. He never really committed to it or showed the signs of the psycho he'd become. Idk where it'd come from with Joker other than maybe the kicker that comes with chasing actors he admires like Ledger, Jack and Phoenix.

Physically and face-wise imo he looks wayy more like a young Jonathan Crane/Scarecrow.

Can't find the post but I argued late last year or early this year he should return the favor to Rob by playing his villain like Rob has done for him.

I think there's a way better fit for him to meaningfully add to Batman mythos and set a high bar for future actors. He'd never just be the "comics" version of the character, it'd from then on be the Chalamert-(Insert Director) version of the character. Just like Rob's Batman

I think this got delayed it because Robert got 3 more movies coming out this year and gotta do the rounds and his Oscar campaign too.

Think its really just what they said. Don't think the filming schedule is going to be delayed they were already accounting for Rob's schedule.

For fans it f***ing sucks. For WB its a pretty small shift to a holiday release window they're not worried about. The Abrams move was the dramatic one for a film that basically was finishing for a release in 4 months. It was also just told to us likely weeks or more after they knew

Gonna be really really fascinating if Rob clips a nom and this is the first film to feature "Starring Academy Award Nominee..." ScarJo, Rob and Stan are all in potential Oscar nominated films next year so it'll be interesting to see them going from show to show or doing press.
