Also people don’t talk enough about how funny The Batman is
It’s easily the funniest Batman film . Reeves manages to keep the story feeling dark while also leaning in to how self serious Batman is as a character so he ends being funny af without realizing it. And of course the Penguin is hilarious

Penguin talking s*** the whole time was funny
Only thing that took me out the movie was how thoroughly uncool Riddler turned out in the end lmao

I thought it was pretty humorous and unexpected that bruh turned out to just be a 4chan-browsing lunatic
It’s definitely a very modern take on the character

My man was proud as s*** about that bat toss
My man was proud as s*** about that bat toss
Battinson was really about that action
:jordanlaff3:
“I GOT YOU FOR ASSAULTING A POLICE OFFICER!!!”
Batman: “You got me on assaulting 3...”
The final act makes the film buckle at the knee for me
Although I can see why people consider it the weakest section of the film, it’s a really necessary part of the movie.
If you ended the movie after Riddler is arrested, Bruce would’ve had no real character development
He needed to save Gotham and become that beacon of light and hope
Also on my recent rewatch I had much more appreciation for that 3rd act, there’s some entertaining action during that sequence.
And Batman jumping through the roof was one the most “Batman” moments we’ve ever gotten on screen

I love the scene of him leading the citizens as well

I am going to keep it 100. I saw it IMAX Preview day 1 minute 1
The movie had me at beginning but the Riddler plot being so non sensical twitch streamer flooding the city ( which would include the poor) and shooting at a progressive black mayor.
Was so abhorrently stupid that it guaranteed I would never rewatch again

Its genuinely trash for me

It’s not terrible but it is definitely the weakest act, cg is weird at parts and it just feels tonally off even if I agree it was needed to complete his arc
The shot of him becoming the beacon of light is all timer
In fact this is one of if not the prettiest superhero movie ever made (besides that last set piece in the convention center area)
common Marcus W
video nailed too why i was never messing with the dark knight series like that though i can give it’s due respect for things
it never really felt like batman or like it had the aura

If that's the case then I think the film needed more editing or the structure needed to be streamlined. By the time the third act came I was legit bored out of my mind and felt the length weigh the film down.
I also thought john turturro was wildly miscast. Didn't find him threatening in the least.
Only issue I had with the film was it's length, some of that Catwoman dialogue was corny asf, it's like they tried to shoehorn in something about racial class/economic disparities last minute
Everybody so worried about the 3rd act
That s*** felt like the only time I've seen Batman be a full fledged superhero on screen

that's all fine and dandy. it just should have come sooner in the film. by the time the 3rd act rolls around you starts to feel the length of the film.
Watched the movie on Netflix again the other day. Its still really good. Its a little long and felt the length way more on rewatch.
I think it could have been 20 to 30 minutes shorter but I dont know which scenes could be cut

it kinda fits no? riddler was ignored by the system and there is a juxtaposition with how they both decided to deal with the s***ty hand they were dealt.

You're right about the economic side. I guess I should've clarified it's the white privilege aspect of what she was saying that just felt shoehorned to me in Catwoman's dialogue. The racial divide and experience of Black people in Gotham is something they've tackled in the comics before but they hadn't touched on it at all in the film so it felt off tbh. It's minor gripe/nitpick though, not something I'd tear the entire film down over.

yea i feel you; it seemed shoehorned in to me as well at first.
now, i rationalize with the "white privileged a******s" line as damn near irony. she's talking to the MOST white privileged a****** in Gotham

thats my thang tooo... ngl i have my head so far up this movie's ass i would've taken a four hour cut happily.
but taking a more objective stance; it certainly is a bit long. i also wouldnt know what scenes to chop.
