the desolate look rob fixes on his face throughout was a subtle but very impactful way of showing how apathetic and devoid of emotion batman is truly one of the most unhinged depiction of this character

the painting above captured that so well and just reminded me of my initial reaction to this particular characterization of batman

What did the batman fans think of spiderman no way home? I thought it was kinda meh just but then again mcu movies for most part aren't really for me. Felt like I was watching friends without a laugh track at times but I respect it for innovating as far as bringing multiple film franchises together like that. And while it looked like the entire thing was green screen the strange effects looked good and some of the member berries hit

The Batman / twlight / emo comparisons have been going on before the movie.

On the other hand. Rewatching TDK I felt Christian Bale maintained a lot of mannerisms from American psycho

Hm... there are a lot of words I could use to describe Pattinson's Batman but apathetic and emotionless are certainly not two of them.

In my POV Batman desperately cares about what he's doing. In fact that's WHY he looks so intense. It's also part of the persona. He's trying to project a certain aura to the cops and the criminals, but inside there's plenty of emotion. That's part of the brilliance of the performance and the way they structure his arc. At the end of the movie he realizes he can't JUST be the intimidating specter of vengeance.

probably would have been similar to pattinson movie but better

the script is... not great. it's basically year one and actually written by frank miller but he tried to make it a bit too different. I think Aronofsky probably could have still made it really interesting, but there were def some issues to work out

i don't think anything about holy terror is in the closet

he's come out and talked about how he regrets that period and is aware of how 9/11 had a negative impact on his psyche and political views for a while. I think if you read the totality of his work and his comments I certainly wouldn't call him a conservative, and as long as he's gone back on the anti-muslim stuff I don't really see him as all that problematic tbh
