That sterile contemporary R&B production of the late 80s into the mid 90s has always been an obstacle for me and it's not just her music I didn't care for it when my mom played Whitney every day and I don't think it's aged well. That's just my feeling. Clearly it didn't hold her back from great success in the industry.

that conversation exists bc of that context alone, it can’t be associated with whitney houston that is a totally different context and debate - it has nothing to do if she’s a genuis or hop trender, she’s just under appreciated and over simplified, summed up to one or two hits and a crackhead, a story similar to how the bbs are hurted by - some hits and brian going crazy, so there is a similar pattern of injustice within pop culture there, but as to why is different and we can’t attribute same arguments by default to the simple fact that whitney was never an avant garde artist like brian and that’s fine
