His explanation is pretty clear, makes sense and is consistent with his views on music
He wanted frank to sing on his album not rap, period 💅
Has Brian collabed with frank ever since ? No
Has Brian collabed with an artist that rapped on his song? (idk but I highly doubt it)
Not everyone likes rap music especially older generations
even prince has spoken out against some aspects of rap music -
But I think this was moreso Brian saying I wanted the song to be like this (frank singing) and not like that (with the rap)
Imo it isn't far fetched to think he prefers singing over rapping 🤔
Idk unless he's controlled by his label to say things regularly (idk bout that but I tought he's free now, I hope so)
Brian seems too carefree to submit to pr pressure
Moreover Idk why they wouldn't put frank on the album even if he's rapping to appeal to younger audiences/sell more/get more streams
Frank is huge (especially around that time) it's not a smart business move to cut him from the record - this reads more like a artistic decision than a business one
If his wife made that decision she's a bad business woman

They have the good kind of love
Good kind of love, good kind of love
They have the right kind of thing
Right kind of thing, right kind of thing
Makes me wanna sing it to you

He still cut frank from the song
Prince has songs rapping/ft rappers and still talked alot against certains aspects of rap
Rap back then isn't what it is now...
Brian admitted he never heard Kanye west's music....
This one song doesn't prove he likes rap in general especially not modern rap....
Maybe he really just wanted frank to sing but frank changed up? How is that a pr move?
You still have to point to why this is a pr move in your opinion - a pr move being a public relations move - that part doesn't make sense to me

Kanye in a picture. Just posting because 🐐
💀 💀 💀 💀
Another big artists of our time is Kanye West. You’ve worked with him in the past for charity. Have you ever listened to his music?
No, I haven’t.

Kanye is a legend, agreed

Lost my way
The sun grew dear
Stepped over graves
And stood in seers
Took the dive but couldn't swim
A flag without the wind
Cool

the song was an example as to brian trying some rap despite being bad or whatever - not that he listens to it, brian doesn’t listen to rap
im saying there’s no way frank was influenced by the bbs and then when got a shot to work with the harmonies legend years later said nah i wanna rap, i think brian’s camp saw a different marketing opportunity and made the shots for brian, this whole album was label made in the first place, so this decision is absolutely a label pr move, some bbs oldheads prolly weren’t happy and so they cut it off and told brian what to say to justify it and replace with s***ty artists
ofc frank and lana wouldve been far more relevant collaborations, but the label sees it differently marketing wise they want to target it specifically
speaking about his influences, he said: “When I was making the first album there were a group of artists that I listened to, just for inspiration and to absorb the energies.
“It was a lot of Stevie Wonder, and this time it’s a lot of Beach Boys and Beatles and whatnot, so we’ll see how it trickles into the music and the final product. I can’t say much other than that.”

To me it sounds more like Frank ocean tried to swagger jack their sauce because they're legends
I might revisit blonde album to see if their influences came through but I didn't hear it first time around
This comment..... what the HECK DONUTHOLE 😡😡😡😡
This comment..... what the HECK DONUTHOLE 😡😡😡😡
that what it sounds like to me lol - I don't mean to offend frank ocean fans
Can anyone link me the songs on the blonde album where the beach Boys/blonde influence is recognizable?
like beyond reasonable doubt here's the song(s) where their imprint is all over
Frank said that (before he finished) he was listening to the goats
After the album came out, he didn't comment on those influences again (correct me if I'm wrong)
Seems like a pattern with him is to name legends before his album drops as he said that for channel orange he was influenced by stevie wonder
I think he's genuine about listening to these legends during his creative process but not for the reasons y'all think he is... That's just my imo though

people get mad here if anyone says something about Blonde that isnt praising it as the greatest album of all time

imo, it's just kinda far fetched that Frank would even suggest rapping on a song with Brian. Frank's a very vocal Beach Boys stan so why when giving the chance to work with Brian he decides "ya know what? I wanna rap all of a sudden" like idk that seems like a sus story to me lol
the song was an example as to brian trying some rap despite being bad or whatever - not that he listens to it, brian doesn’t listen to rap

If that's true, that label dumb asl
Frank hasn't commented on this either which makes this story not convincing at all
I'd expect frank to be at least upset about not being on a Brian wilson album - (according to the claim he's an influence on him)
maybe frank doesn't feel wronged at all, idk
people get mad here if anyone says something about Blonde that isnt praising it as the greatest album of all time
I don't think it is, not even close imo
But we're all entitled to our opinions
lotta reviews mentions the influence of the bbs on blonde even the albums wiki page brings it up
people get mad here if anyone says something about Blonde that isnt praising it as the greatest album of all time
im not mad but it is
