some british invasion stuff sounds like s*** in stereo tbh. probably cause it was the early days of fiddling about in the studio but i had to literally do a track-by-track comparison to see which version of many Small Faces, Kiinks etc songs i wanted as the keeper. like i dont need all the drums in the left and all the vocals in the right

does it help if the original mastering was s***? anyway i dont think there are alot of options when youre just turning cd's into lossless files. not talking vinyl. most recent remasters that had both mono and stereo versions.

i generally like the mono better for pre pet sounds stuff but some of the stereo (re)mixes i heard were pretty decent
