one of the craziest finds i ever stumbled on into my bbs diggings:

Richard Dewitte - known for writing and singing one of france’s biggest 70s hit song still emblematic of france’s pop culture to this day:

was way back in the sixties in a band covering a beach boys album deep cut for a single! made new lyrics in french and that isn’t even based off of a song from a hit album by the boys - this is so odd and obscure, even one of the dude behind frances biggest hit song was a bbs fanatic

Chris Wolstenholme (MUSE): We have always loved The Beach Boys. I was already listening to them when I was 5 years old and still do today. The harmonies, the arrangements, the strings or the percussions coming out of Brian Wilson’s imagination are beyond anything else pop rock has ever offered. Most likely Wilson whispered or hummed to us the song Soldier's Poem.

@sfsorrow what's your price range? also, tell me the genres that you listen to the most

I wanted to know ithaka’s I think he misunderstood me but I do have a good question cus you’ve probably had them or similar style before as an audiophile. Are M50X’s worth getting a DAC/amp like a fiio for or should I just wait until I’m ready to upgrade down the line? I have two different cheaper sets of earbuds for regular listening n those I use for first listens, attentive listening, etc, I’ve had them for about 4 years. I drive them with my phone and I feel like it’s probably not worth it but I’m curious if there’s a discernible difference

Jonathan Rado (FOXYGEN): ā€Sometimes I feel very sad.ā€ In just one simple line, Brian expresses what nerdy little men in dumb hats have been trying to express in wordy-ass pop songs for the last 80 years.

    Plus, theremin solo.

it honestly depends on what you're listening to them on. if it's on a macbook or imac, then no you don't need it, but if it's on a pc you will. the difference is the volume level, that's mostly it, but i can't even imagine listening to anything without an amp + dac anymore.

just get a jds atom stack. this was my go-to for quite some time and never served me any problems.

the "cuando sere" etc. in the backing vocals at that part even though im not really a huge fan of that line ngl

now that i think of it thats potentially my #3 song on pet sounds and close to cracking my top 5 bbs overall

Where can I turn when my fair weather friends cop out?
    What's it all about?

i really like this song, wish we had carl on the chorus

i like the prechorus because the quirky short line ā€œsummertime, take a few calls, make a little love - thank god for shelterā€ harmonies section before the big chorus kicks in sounds like something only brian could ever come up like it’s hard to tell what he does he doesn’t do today because so many people get involved and his camo tel him what to or not do but that part is the most brian moment of the whole album something you could have gotten in love you

there’s a vocal tag harmony i can’t really hear in the big chorus in the back someone singing some words in a lower tone very fast

wish we had acapella tracks cos i think that may be brian there doing some very brianish harmonies just like the line i mention that comes before the chorus kicks in

this is one of the reasons im not a fan of melinda on top of other stories ive shared itt and despite mike love bullshit he’s right to air this out:

ā€œMike Love has documented parts of this specific show in his memoir, stating that Brian Wilson's wife, Melinda, attempted to install live autotune mics on the members of the band. The live autotuning can be heard here, unlike recordings from later dates/post-produced releases of the tour.ā€

lol i guess its just a little too blunt for my tastes, i dont hate it though. typically i think i would enjoy a lyric that expresses it in a little different way instead of just "sad", ex: the rest of the lyrics which i absolutely love

    the smallest of qualms lol

but i def like it more than the mike love "good night baby" part at end of wouldnt it be nice

actually because of how well the other backing vocal parts surround it, im not sure i would want the line any other way now that i think of it

"can't find nothin' I can put my heart and soul into"

i like on the nose bars like this sometimes bc it makes you reflect on words or sentence we use every day to transport emotions to empathize on what our emotions are but with taking what the wording we use for granted

like here the echo of just saying humbly ā€œsometimes, i feel very sadā€ just leaves such a form of telling... like just a open window without filter of this guy, brian, who’s trying to tell you that he doesn’t get why he’s just down like that and it comes back and back - of course the rest of the lyrics expresses this alienating feeing but this bar he just says like how it is as he’s talking to you, he doesn’t understand it more than you or i and that’s the beauty of it and i think in a way why it comes out more relevant than just for the song itself is how reflecting of who brian really is

brian really is this ā€œmelancholicā€ guy mike love describes when he brags about his input, and brian can’t explain it other than with this bar

i also like it because through out brian work it’s with stuff like this where you can pick up if it’s genuinely his own material and work and what he came up with himself and not through collaborations, like with an album like ā€œbrian love youā€ yeah that’s brian alright no bullshit there or the solo album that probably won’t ever come out ā€œsensitive music for sensitive peopleā€

in factin some interview when someone asks what’s going through his mind when singing that song i just wasn't made for these times live these days to which brian says: Ah Nothing, it comes from my throat, out of my mouth into into the audience, there you go

brian has that kind of sense of humor but i think he’s just honest and genuine there and that captures it to me and why the lyrics are so honest down to earth and close to himself and who he is and i wouldn’t want to have that any other way, like keeping all that in mind has made me appreciate little things like this so much more and also learn from it for myself too

her and joe thomas are all on that ever since the 90s and really went overboard for the 2012 album and it doesn’t sit right with me that they do this without brians knowledge or involvement like he’s a manchild but yet when they record promo for the album they do these fake sets with brian being in charge of the boys in studio lkke old times and all that
