this genuinely the peak of art tbh
smile is the highest mountain
Peak of human achievement tbh. For instance brian is the first ever human being to fully enter a piano and come out unscathed

brian is the only legitimate artist worth of the title genuis if we keep it real and stop throwing that around to whoever drops a cool song

My grandfather use to play Kirby all the time we both did together. This is fantastic bro. You always make me feel so enlightened bro. I am gonna be in this thread sharing all my the beach boys favourites this upcoming week

i agree but i feel like he has transcended that even, he has become one of the greatest and most influential/impactful musicians of all time in the canon of music, and all while still being alive just off the STRENGTH of his genius

being alive same time as he’s alive is truly a gift and equivalent of having mozart being around us - seeing him live altho he hates live shows was a blessing and i dont ever want to think of the day ill hear bad news
I’m playing keepin’ the summer alive now 🎸🏝
interesting pick
title song cool tho
Solomon Burke (rip) one of the most underrated artist of his era as he help made rnb is and is a founding father king of soul music, yet doesn’t get as much the credit he deserves
he passed away in 2010 after suffering for a whole of health issues, he had to be in a wheelchair due to his weight but still rocked shows internationally sitting on a throne on stage
either way in 2002 he recorded and released “Don’t Give Up On Me” -which won best rnb album at the grammys none the less and had one of its song used on The Wire that’s on @Bad_Finger_Boogie - and what makes this one stand out is that there is some covers of unreleased songs of big names, such as “Stepchild” by Bob Dylan, a song Bob premiered live in 1978 and abandoned it there and never did anything with it afterwards.
but more importantly and what interests us here is the following one, a Beach Boys cover.. and even if you try to have a guess at it you could NEVER come up with the right one as it’s so left field
i’ve already mentioned the song story and posted itt but in 1996 Brian got back with the boys to make an original Beach Boys album, this would be the last session before Carl’s passing in 1997.
two songs made the cut before the sessions were called off, and they are stellar new and original classic Brian songs he did with his great collaborator Andy Paley: one is “You’re Still A Mystery” that calls back to a more Pet Sounds type
and the other is “Soul Searchin’” a soul type song with Carl on the lead vocals despite going through chemo treatement to fight his cancer absolutely kills this performance
!https://youtu.be/bsgTlCrgbGU(there’s many other outstanding songs Brian and Andy both wrote and recorded during this era in this lvl of quality that could’ve made the album if the sessions kept on going and would’ve been an incredible come back)
since it all got shelved away, these songs have been bootlegged thankfully but they’ve never done anything with it, not even for the 2012 comeback (and most likely final Beach Boys) album!! wth? altho Brian did use Soul Searchin’ on one of his solo album, these two songs finally got an official release in 2013 on the big boxset “Made In California” in honor of the bands 50th anniversary.
but yes, this is what the Solomon Burke picked! Soul Searchin’! the soul song and final Beach Boys song with Carl Wilson that was back then unreleased and boy did he not phone it, he made that song his, a classic soul felt jam:
!https://youtu.be/w-AUPzurfDMand every time he performed live up until his death would make an introduction to it praising Brian and the boys “last night if you missed The Beach Boys you missed a treat” ☺️
did you guys know about this @Fantasy @Elric @SoHelpMeDog @Teal_ @Lawdie @Noir @BlackStar

I feel exactly that so far. It’s not anything I wouldn’t listen to but I more than likely wouldn’t be recommending over some their classics. I do like the sound though so far. Oh darlin is kinda nice
