Something happened to me in the early 1970′s. I heard a record by Joni Mitchell. The record was called Blue and it changed my life completely. There were two records that I played that summer – actually there were three – there was Surf’s Up by The Beach Boys, there was What’s Going On by Marvin Gaye and there was Blue by Joni Mitchell, and I played those records all summer, I think in 1971 or 1972, and that kinda shaped the way I wanted the music to be. It needed to be personal, it needed to be orchestral, it needed huge vocals like The Beach Boys did and it needed to be intensely personal. - John Wetton.

did you ever hear I.S.S.? Tim Smolen made it, its like a boy band pet sounds record, he even does a backstreet boys style production at the end.

This guy even released vault sessions from this recording
Tim Smolen's kinda bay area genius who was the leader of this european folk meets Bungle type hybrid lp that Trey Spruance signed to his label.
But he created this lp, i feel like I mentioned this to you before because of the Bungle tie in.
He also recreated the Steely Dan 2nd arrangement demo

Good thing you didn't tag me cause I've always felt like a bad Canadian for being indifferent to Blue

I know that half the stuff i used to recommend you was "too folky"
including The Kinks who aren't very folky
Not crazy about Joni either?
