I liked the new season and thought Season 3 was pretty trash. I don’t think the writers are getting enough credit for listening to the complaints about the constant screaming and Fak screen time and actually adjusting.
I didn’t think the season was really about saving the restaurant or getting a Star so I wasn’t disappointed that it didn’t resolve. I knew once Nat and Carm had that conversation about falling out of love with something it was gonna be about Carm finding a real sense of self and watching it with that lens makes it feel like a complete story. I actually think a lot happens in this season. The characters finally develop whereas they’ve been pretty static since season 1.
Agreed about the dialogue though. Some of it is so obnoxious lol
Solid season, felt like it was the acoustic album of the show
Ayo went crazy, amazing acting all around as usual
This seasons finale
I enjoyed the season though the wedding was my favorite episode forsure
This season felt like a drag
Syd potential new job/offer dragged for almost 1.5 seasons, all for her to call and say no
Still enjoyable but i feel like they're running out of ideas
Season ending with St Vincent
Had to wrestle through season 3 which was a mess dramaturgically - felt like a giant filler episode.
The difference with first the two eps of S4 is staggering. Stakes are being introduced from the get go with the timer - as a viewer you are there with them. Really liking it so far.
I’ve been a big defender of this series but that under the table scene was a bit ridiculous lol
I also kinda feel there’s no tension between characters anymore. For the most part everyone gets along which makes for less drama. Season 1 we had more butting heads between Carmy and Richie, Richie and Syd, Syd and Tina.
Watching that wedding episode and there’s a lot of potential for conflict between characters but Richie is cool with his ex’s new man and Saul Goodman is cool with Carmy now. There was only Sugar and Brie Larson who had beef but it was played for comedic effect. It just leads to a lot of conversations where characters are dumping their emotions to each other while the other just listens and nods along
Haven’t finished the season and I’m still gonna continue with the show but I do think it probably only has a season left. It feels like most of the conflicts between characters have been resolved and all that’s left is whether or not the restaurant will be a success or not
EDIT: finished the season. It did improve. I liked the finale
