This might turn into a Drake hate thread.
But I was just listening to the Kendrick leak 'Somebody' and it seems like both him and Cole did not get any satisfaction from hitting the pinnacle of rap music. Especially not in the way Drake did. I wonder why that is.

I don't think Wayne/Ye/50 ever got to that place mentally. Such a start difference from Heart Part 1/Dollar and Dream 2

It seems like being at the top of the rap game didnt really give them much joy.

I'm wondering why that is, comparing them to other rappers who've been in their position.

    Tier 1: Drake

Tier 2: Kendrick Cole and Future

    Then everyone else

Cole and Kendrick have been nowhere close to Drakes success

    This what matters

  • Drake's obviously happy at being at the top, but I feel like he's always craved the approval of hip hop heads and it eats at him from time to time.

Thats why his favorite work is where he's spitting bars on boom bap/soulful beats like Gold Roses.

Seems like they have a genuine mission that’s not attached to money or fame. The same thing happened with 3 stacks.

Drake and wayne etc are much more vain in where it seems like the fame and money validates them in a weird way.

kendrick doesn't value commercial success as much as his peers do. he wants to be recognized as great through his art, not by stat-padding and dominating

as time goes on and kids become further removed from the commercial primes of legends, all that will matter at the end of the day is their catalog. "hits" eventually become regular album cuts to those who weren't around to feel the impact. kendrick knows that
