Lockdown was a smart decision when we were still under the impression that the virus was going to kill millions upon millions, but since we now know the death rate is only like 0.1% for normal young people it's pretty safe to say that the nosedive of the country's economy and mental health, among other ripple effects caused by the lockdown, will lead to more impactful problems than the virus itself

In that sense opening up is just the lesser of two evils, but most business owners, employees who need to feed their family, and people under the age of 80 are willing to take that chance, as proven by these huge protests

hospitals are still ill equipped with PPE, with damn near every unit reusing masks throughout the week. I'd be a lot more comfortable reopening once that situation gets handled as I dont want to contract the virus at the hospital myself.
due to the recent events, there is most likely going to be a surge in cases and s*** is gonna be ass if our hospitals get overwhelmed with cases when the US still hasnt provided adequate PPE for healthcare workers. the US has had literal months to play catch up and the government out here f***in around. hate how the damn law enforcement pigs receive such a large budget, though I do understand that hospitals are private, which is another problem in itself, but all im tryna say is hold out for a couple more weeks incase these protests cause a surge in cases for hospitals
