Ah yes. A legendary artist resorting to s***ty memes instead of being meticulous about his work. Cmon man. Drake doesn't have to do this s*** to get people talking. He's Drake.
IYRTITL, Views, and Scorpion covers were all memeable too, man knows what hes doing
NWTS too i remember everybody takin pictures like this making fun of it
the hotline bling video meme has had almost a six year stronghold on the internet, drake prolly likes doing s*** like this to be memeable
Will drake fans admit that his interest in sales through memes has superseded his interest in sales through actual quality ?
The Game influence
No joke I somehow never noticed they were all pregnant. Even when people first made this comparison it just went over my head lmao
from pop star to meme star
the memes are forced as s*** and unfunny. It's great because it's fun and fits the title perfectly

they ought to, not everyone's fave happens to be a cultural phenomenon
the memes are forced as s*** and unfunny. It's great because it's fun and fits the title perfectly
We haven't even seen the best CLB memes yet
If this was the album cover for a punk band or some edgy indie band it would makes 10x more sense than whatever drake is attempting to do
It is honestly an elite cover
Fax anyone hating doesn’t know s*** about art or critical theory. Bunch of pedestrians talking out their necks about s*** they know nothing about it’s pretty pathetic
IYRTITL, Views, and Scorpion covers were all memeable too, man knows what hes doing
ehhh not so much scorpion imo. but now that you mention in I do remember IYRTITL memes lmfao

The memes are literally in reaction to the release just like any major cultural phenomenon
Shut don’t last
Feel like the cover art is just in reference to the title "Certified Lover Boy". Really not as deep or complex as y'all tryna make it out to be.
yall really thought he was gonna do a basic cover for an album named CERTIFIED LOVER BOY ?
ehhh not so much scorpion imo. but now that you mention in I do remember IYRTITL memes lmfao
oh man everyone was making their own version of the scorpion cover after it dropped viral marketing at its finest
I like the cover but
If we’re being real, drake got the connect with Damien Hirst which is a huge deal, Drake described the album to this old man and asked him to make an album cover, and he thought ‘Wow. Certified Lover Boy, hey? This young bull must be getting all the ladies pregnant!’ and came back with this idea and Drake was expecting greatness but couldn’t turn him down after commissioning one of the most valuable artists alive
NWTS too i remember everybody takin pictures like this making fun of it
I was 11 when this album came out, I miss the early 2010s when drake was lightskin simp nigga that everyone liked and also made fun of
Drake is not like we know who
He can’t pull this one I think , his life and persona doesn’t have depth like that
We haven't even seen the best CLB memes yet
Oh thought you were jus talking about the cover. Idk maybe the memes will be good but the idea of CLB is good enough for me
I think it is bc it’s hard to do
It’s harder to do than to make a “real album Cover”
Plus it’s 2021
People don’t buy CDs anymore
Artists used to have super artsy covers bc the Cover was going to be printed on to a vinyl Cover and live forever as a physical object in the real world.
Those vinyl Cover cases are like 1 foot by 1 foot long
And every one had to consume music that way bc it was their only choice, so as an artist you knew that if ppl were buying your album they would have that Cover in their hands and maybe take the time to actually look at/appreciate the art
Then that trickled down onto the CD as well
This type of Cover is great bc we are no longer in that era. We are in the iPhone Era and what better indicator that we are than a bunch of Apple emoji’s on the Cover?
99.9% of people who see this Cover for the very first time, are going to see the Cover on their phone. Your phone is most likely only 5-6 inches of screen space diagonally, and there is no iPhone that exists with more than 3 inches of width screen space
Since Album covers are a square, and the max width of an iPhone is 3 inches (not even fully 3, more like 2.74) then that means the max height and width that the album Cover will take up on your screen is 3 inches wide by 3 inches height. Which, announcing the Cover on Instagram makes sense compared to any other social media bc it’s the only social media that allows photos that are posted to be seen the full width of your phone.
Why would you make some detailed dope ass Cover art only for ppl to see it on 3 inches of space? Compared to the original 13 inches of a physical vinyl sleeve/cover, there’s way less real estate. So you should have 4x less details on your Cover than traditionally speaking, and even less than that bc we consume music in/on playlists now
When you are scrolling through your playlist on Spotify and Apple Music, the Cover art is aligned to the left in a small ass box that is like 0.4 x 0.4 inches. And it is right on top of and underneath a bunch of other covers as well. This CLB Cover will completely stand out in comparison to 99% of other covers
I could keep going on with examples but just think about how people “consume” album covers now. On their phone, and on specific elements of their screen that make the album Cover very small (Apple Music/Spotify screen, scrolling through playlists, scrolling through social media, your phone’s Lock Screen). And this Cover takes full advantage of that, probably better than any other Cover ever made
