In all seriousness we probably need to think about an optional prem subscription like $2/mo

or a gofundme so i can pick up where i left off with app development earlier this year (TestFlight users said I should do this)

the reasons for embeds = concerns about performance on some devices etc if there’s a lot. and also they’re used by meta/bytedance to track you - which is why YouTube is just an image until you tap it

but tbf I guess they could just work like YouTube embeds - maybe w/ a setting to show full embeds by default ?

the level of original content used to be so high back in the early-to-mid 2010s. back when everything on the internet felt exciting and novel. people were passionate enough to sit in photoshop/sony vegas/adobe premier for hours just to make these stupid little memes.

these days the best you'll get is people using AI prompts to make iceman versions of their avatars. washed, dusty, boring, might as well shut down the whole forum.

tbf people are on like diff devices but yeah atp i think it wouldn't be an issue, especially with mp4/webm, and only playing on tap/hover and profile. i think discord works like that icr
