Scott Ramon Seguro Mescudi. Mr Rager. King Wizard. The Man on the Moon. Most famously known as KID CUDI.
Objectively one of the most important and influential hip hop artists we will EVER see in our lifetime. He came and changed the game with introspective, personal, and at times very DARK lyrics, explaining to us his life and his troubles with mental health as a human being. All with some very cinematic and interesting soundscapes to back his melodic storytelling.
Since 2009 he's shared with us his struggles with loneliness, self love, feelings of hatred, self harm, the undying need for acceptance, romantic love, etc. But in order to not bore you with all his lyrics, (cause most of them are about these topics) I will pick ONE single verse that I think can sum up who Scott Mescudi is in the simplest way.
Because who he is has NOT changed to this day in 2023, and that seems to me a big issue as to why he has succumbed to a very negative place in the house of hip hop.
That is the first verse on his song "Handle With Care" 2015

"Pardon me babe there are instructions I think that you should read
Im a mad man I cause problems that I truly never mean
Im damaged I trust no one sometimes I can be real mean
To a magnitude extreme
Im sorry yall, but
Handle with Care.
So fragile and delicate
Handle with Care..
Im so fragile and delicate!
Handle with Care...
So fragile and delicate
Handle with Care..
Here's your warning"
He is, very flat out, saying:
"Im mentally ill, I feel too much, sometimes I may lash out and be a total d***, please be very sensitive with me, Im sorry Im like this."
Now my question is: what is the solution? He is obviously working on bettering himself, even if he is not making very much progress. But to me it seems like an unfortunate situation he has little control over.
He can't stop being himself. He can't stop feeling everything. Its almost like he is the kid in the classroom that everyone knows they can get a reaction out of, so people keep picking on him. Until that kid one day hurts himself, or hurts others.
I'll admit, at times it was funny the jokes we would make about Cudi. But Im not going to be one of those people abusing bro's peace online, and then wishing him to "Rest in Peace" when he is no longer with us.
So what is the solution for the man who can't help being the way he is? Is he just doomed to forever be hated on now?
dude what’s up with this “what if cudi hurts himself” narrative it’s not 2016 bro
it just comes off sad like using pity to say “stop making fun of my fav”
This generation not knowing how to judge/gaugemusic and resorting to calling everything mid might be the worst evolution of music listeners.

a manchild with few hits in the beginning of his career.
He wouldnt be seen as a joke/hated on if he acted right + kept dropping hits, good albums.
kanye acts similar to cudi but he got a discography that allows people to be a fan

Woat opinion, just blatantly incorrect, on all levels
I think he cares heavily about how people look at him, he simultaneously thinks he's a legend but also insecure at points.
Which is normal for artists, but I think he goes about it the wrong way sometimes
