A lot of factors but aside from 106 etc dying Akademiks and world star is kind of the reason lol

Reduced every hip Hop platform that wanted to be relevant into an urban meme page

Ironically og everyday struggle was the blueprint for what entertaining hip hop a***ysis should be

As far as <25 The youth doesn’t have something like breakfast club that’s mandatory for us to go to nor as of this time an interviewer under 30 that is a must see for new artists to go talk to

My expert opinion doing their thing and Joe still hits every now and then but both have their flaws and don’t have a young person on there

One other place that ain’t get brought up that deserves more spotlight as a place dope hip hop convos take place is 85 south

And nobody on there did no. Weird s*** like everyone you named lol

Yns going up fast af too

kai cenat and adin ross battling for the <25 monopoly

myke c-town is a deeply troubled individual

I actually find myself agreeing with him the most in reviews but he also articulates his thoughts better than the others He has more to say than "Bumps in the whip" and he seems less stubborn/hard-headed than the others

hes the closest to an actual reviewer/analyst out the bunch and when he gets into it with other guys I like it. hes very overwhelming on twitter tho, dunno why I still follow him. haven't seen dehh stuff in forever btw

a podcast with him, Justin Hunte and somebody young would be the best non-mainstream rap show out there though. that old head's everyday struggle

shouldn't have read this on a work call

  • The reality is hip hop is a polarizing genre and most if not everyone involved with the genre has said or done something that pisses off atleast one demographic

Your girl is grandstanding, she probably listens to someone who has done sumthin pretty egregious in their life

What is the best thing airing on there right now? Because other than Drink Champs and Justin Laboy's show hosted by Diddy's Side Piece, I don't see anyone caring about whatever else is on that channel.

true but non-Black media is pretty f***ing bad too.

rapists, (messy) cheaters, racists, and idiots all over ‘traditional’ media.

    Weinstein (Weinstein)
    Lockhart Steele (Vox)
    Roy Price (Amazon)
    Mark Halperin (HBO, Showtime, more)
    Rick Najera (CBS)
    Hamilton Fish (New Republic)
    Michael Oreskes (NYT, NPR)

and I could do this forever. don’t let white ppl fool you into thinking they’re less messy and ridiculous than us. all media is nasty and f***ed bc that’s just been the culture.

For context: I'm chilling watching Tik Toks with my girl, right? And at some point, a clip from the "See the thing is..." Podcast pulls up on her For You Page. I start explaining to her what the show is and how it was originally a part of the Joe Budden Network.

As soon as that name comes out my mouth, she looks at me like this and we end up having a back and forth. She asked me why I watch that man's stuff, and I countered by saying that she's looking at it the wrong way.

Instead of seeing this as a knock against my character, you should Instead be questioning the current state of black and hip hop media as whole. Because with no exaggeration, they're all kind of bad in their own way. They're either problematic, hosted by problematic people, arguably exploited by non-black people, or a mix of both.

I know that this has kind of become a tired point here, but going down the list with my girl really puts things in perspective for me.

    Let me break it down:

Wendy Williams was problematic and is currently off the air.

    Shade Room is garbage.

    Hollywood Unlocked is garbage.

The Breakfast Club is the number one radio show in the country, and it's most popular host has admitted to d***ging and raping an underaged girl. Used to harass female guest and ask inappropriate questions to minors.

    Revolt is owned by Diddy.

    RIP Combat Jack.

    Taxstone in jail.

Adam22 is a white man that has admitted to having s***with an underaged girl and regularly hangs out with teenagers.

Vlad got the funds to start his platform after suing Ross and now uses said platform to exploit black people.

Akademiks exploited the death and gang violence involving children in Chicago. Has no qualms asking an underaged Bhad Bhabbie who she having s***with.

BET is garbage. No more TRL and 106 & Park.

Joe Budden beat a pregnant woman into miscarriaging.

All Def Digital was started by Russell Simmons.

Nicki Minaj has a radio show on Apple Music and is married to a registered s***offender.

Justin Laboy is garbage and got his show canceled.

    Red Table Talk is garbage.

    The Real is garbage.

Fresh and Fit brings shame to me as a Haitian Man.

SNEAKO a weirdo and got deplatformed.

ABA and PREACH too hit or miss.

NORE brought Ye on Drink Champs.

NBA Youngboy got a radio show.

    Starr.

No one watches T- Pain's podcast.

No one watches Danny Brown's podcast.

No one watches Rory and Mal.

    Boxden full of oldheads.

Lipstick Alley full of gay white men pretending to be black women.

    KTT hates women.

    Tasha K is garbage.

DEHH misinformed and out of touch.

    Trap Lore Ross

    Nikbagtv disappeared.

    Eben Gregory disappeared.

Ed Lover stopped doing "C'mon Son"

    Desus and Mero split.

Zack Fox drank his own nut on live television and got his show on Vice canceled.

    Trevor Noah isn't funny.

Like what's left after all that? Kai and Adin Ross? Wack100 on Clubhouse? Kerwin Frost? Ziwe?

TLDR: IT'S ALL KIND OF GARBAGE

I'm boutta make a Podcast so I can be the only one on op's list

    As a Positive.

    Who tryna pod with me?

    Artists aint innocent too.

Whether for better or for worse, the open accessibility of artists in the modern era has opened the doors for a lot of HILARIOUSLY introverted artists that legit don’t give good interviews or don’t know how to function in those conventional settings. Like and I know anxiety is real and maybe the silver lining of mental health being a thing instead of forcing niggas to just “thug through it” is acknowledging that, but Bryson Tiller really wanting to just call in to Everyday Struggle is a different type of “bro r u srs” energy.

Shoutout to the emo soundcloud era for that. Some of the rappers out that clan it felt like you were pulling teeth just to have to get an actual DECENT interview. I think (conspiracy s***) also the whole lowering literacy rate coincides with the fact a LOT of these niggas are not good speakers. Like at all.

And you can tell today that s*** still matters solely based on the fact there are Vince Staples fans that only know about him through his interviews.

A lot of these artists, are just not good speakers man.

nah you definitely are telling the truth

a lot of artists are awful at doing interviews, usually due to social anxiety, being inarticulate or being too cocky

for me, that comes down to the artists doing some work with themselves to mature and work through their issues with speaking, but also on the labels and management teams. they need to emphasize the importance of media to these artists and we need to bring back media training and artist development.

They really are though. I still remember watching their CMIYGL review and they pointed out a line Tyler said about winning a Grammy. They clearly had no idea IGOR already won Dude with the dreads (Myke?) acted like he understood everything about BTI, he didn't need to read the screenplay. But there's stuff in the screenplay that's nowhere in the album, it's impossible to grasp the entire concept just by listening to the album

that’s an issue i have with most of these rap media outlets. niggas have a general lack of understanding about what’s going on if the artist in question is out of their age range or makes music that isn’t within their taste

i’m so sick of seeing interviews and podcasts where the hosts are learning basic information on camera when they should have learned it during pre-production
