sorry for the misleading title didn't know it would come off that way

Thank you for not taking my comment in an insulting way, retrospectively I could have worded it better

Great video. I agree with every single thing on it.

This video is pretty bad as are 90% of video essays on youtube

Dude seems to believe that the sole message behind self help is "Work hard and you will achieve what you want"

When in most cases it's actually about developing a better mindset and working smarter

Also, you definitely should just stick to the classic self help books. These gurus can be helpful when starting off but yeah they're running a business and need to make money. They themselves learned the information from the classics anyway so it's better to just go straight to those.

Got a friend who is in too deep in that trap. Keeps sinking so much money into it. Diet plans, financial tricks, etc. He wasn't even a naive kind of person to begin with. It's sad.

For sure. It's all about taking action rather than thinking about it. I think it's easy for people to fool themselves into thinking they've made progress just because they've watched a video about it.

I know in the world of programming, it's common for people starting out to fall into a similar pattern. They watch follow along videos of people making apps, and get a sense of accomplishment from simply copying someone else's code and following along. But then they struggle to build an app by themselves because they don't consistently put things into practice.

I was like that for awhile before I really got started actually building s***, and occasionally still fall into it when I'm learning something new.

This sounds exactly like what I was doing.

I used to study automotive electrical diagnostics and it's pretty complex stuff, I was getting pretty good but for some reason I stopped.

Never did apply to an actual car though, I need to get back into that so I can get out the shipyard tbh.
