Gimme Ayton (give him the max, idgaf) and Jabari Smith or Chet, then trade Jerami to the Blazers for a top 10 pick
We’d be dominant this decade if that happens

Not a Pistons fan, but what about Bagley? Can retain him for way cheaper than signing Ayton and offensively has a higher ceiling although his defense isn't necessarily top tier.
maybe spend that cap space on a wing or save it for next year

Key word there is defense mate.
Sir Bagleton III is cool for offense off the bench, but he’s garbo at defense and not even a consistent offensive player. Ayton is a winner, Baggleton is a starter on a losing team
What I’m really nervous about is us overpaying Brunson. I like him, but I’m not sure I even think he’s good enough to be a starter, let alone get paid like a star
Clinched at worst being tied for the 3rd seed in the draft lottery
And 1 more loss gives us the spot outright
Whew we got the next Draymond and King Killian. Hell of a night
Dead af at me comping Stew to Draymond when we drafted him
I know that Killian has had a lot of s*** talked on him all season because of his horrible shooting/scoring. But I want to say that I'm still optimistic about his game and drafting him at #7.
For as poor as his shooting/scoring has been, it's not as if it isn't redeemable. He doesn't have some weird shooting technique (like Lonzo did for example), he just needs reps shooting 3's to get his consistency and confidence to where it needs to be. Same thing with his floaters and mid-range -- those can come off stiff at times, but I think with more reps he has the potential to get his confidence up there.
Now those are the bad things, as far as the good things, there's a lot. He has ELITE playmaking/passing ability and he's only 19 years old. You can't teach that stuff. I feel like almost every time we have the ball on offense I see him make at least 1 really great decision/pass. His instincts as a point guard are amazing.
On defense he has a plus Defensive Win Share, and it is very visible watching him. He uses his length very well, has great tenacity, and above average athleticism/quickness to keep up with any PG in the league.
I think his ceiling is prime Dragic, IF he can improve his shooting/scoring. Obviously if he doesn't improve it though, he would only be like a poor man's Ricky Rubio.
One year later, this is still accurate.
Kill has been playing really great ball over the last month especially, and he has shown a lot of the strengths and areas he needed to improve — shooting is still the biggest sticking point and will determine his ultimate future in the league, but like I said before, his mechanics make me optimistic that he can figure it out in a year or two.
His playmaking is still ELITE, and his defense is actually up there with most starting pgs, even above average probably, he’s a pest with length. What I love this past month though, is the aggressiveness. If he keeps it up AND starts shooting better, WHEW.
Troy loading up the glock
Got enough cap space to throw max offers to Bridges and Ayton at the same time
We needed athleticism and we got the most athletic dude in the draft
Was worried he wouldn't get to the Pistons due to Sacramento either taking him outright or through a trade
Playing with Cade puts him in a great position to start too

We don't currently have enough to extend 2 max offers anymore because we took on Kemba's contract. We could probably make room by moving Kelly/Hami/CoJo etc if needed though.
But from what I've seen from Pistons beat guys, Troy's looking to focus on our youth now that we got way more in this draft than he thought was possible. There's a chance we don't even go after Ayton anymore.
I'm kind of down to use the remaining cap space to just get salary dumps in return for big time assets.

Yeah when I wrote that it was before the Kemba trade but I've seen the same thing in terms of focusing on the youth
I wouldn't want to max Ayton anyways so it's cool that they went with Duren instead
Bridges would be fantastic with this group though so it would be cool if they tried to go after him
Otherwise using the cap space to take on bad money for assets will be fire
I know Hami got a team option but he for sure staying that's one of Weaver's guys for sure
Excited to see what's next, always good to see good GMing/team building around high level talents and prospects like Cade
