Even if this is indeed the case. 15 years of an era is incredible, and the drake era will be missed or at least talked about for a very long time
As a long time fan as long as I still hear those amazing cuts I’m happy, salute to an incredible run
Looking forward to that next solo
I’ll shoot Drake some bail. He’s like in year 18 of his career. It was already slowing down but only in relation to his own benchmark. No shame in that if you think about how much music changes generally in two decades. Like imagine going to bed in 1984 and then waking up in 2002 and how music had changed in that period of time.
The only thing is that the Kendrick battle was not a graceful transition.
I still think he’ll be commercially viable forever based on the catalogue and his next album will do numbers. It’s just that he may not have the same gravitational pull he once had, which is normal for most iconic musicians.
(205th Drake thread this week voice) crazy how no one is talking about Drake anymore…
somebody loves me and nokia are summer hits
what constitutes a hit now? he can’t rely on chart talk anymore

always hear them outside. especially somebody loves me
I hope so. I’ve wanted to hear what he’d sound like if he didn’t care about pleasing everyone for so long.
The fact that he doesn’t approach his other albums the way he did NWTS and HNVM when those are his two favorites baffles tf out of me
Era over but the second that solo drop everyone gonna stop what they’re doing and listen lol
We need to see how well his solo does. $$$4U was definitely just some testing the waters type s***
We also need to see if Kendrick’s able to maintain his position. If he absolutely dominates the next few years the way he has for the last year then I’ll say he’s officially solidified in that spot
As fun and productive as this thread will be all I’ll say is we won’t know until his next real album cycle
$$4U is definitely his album but he p**** footed out of that convo by masking it as a collab. The next solo will be the real test
Party had the best solo song on that album
It’s funny when people say s*** like “The Drake era” because it’s solely tied to commercial success as opposed to influence, cultural impact, tastemaking or really pushing the genre forward in any meaningful way whatsoever so I never really understood why it was ever dubbed that at all.
It isn’t any different than how Lebron fans try to give him an “era” although Curry was way more revolutionary and impactful on basketball as a whole.
Maybe the conversation should be saved for the retrospective I guess
It's been over for a while tbh. The writings been on the wall for a min and he was just a placeholder until Kendrick said what we all felt. Drakes 2020s output feels like he just doesn't care anymore and is just going through the motions. If he doesn't sound inspired on his next solo then it's truly over for good.

personally, I've felt like he stopped caring shortly after Views, he's just on autopilot, his flows and deliveries now give off this " I don't wanna be in the studio. I'm so bored. Can I go now?" type of attitude, like monotone is his default setting
